hpn Bike for sale

Just another airhead owner with more money than sense.....simply not worth that kind of money :rob

i know theres a limit to what they're worth but if you could get it for £12k i dont think its a ridiculous amount of money for someone to pay. its twice the price of a really nice GSPD .
to put it another way id rather have this than a new w/c 1200 :)

its way out of my league anyway money wise and anyway its not got an rt fairing to keep me warm:blast

Just bung Kenny a few hundred quid and the address and it'll be yours :D

The only thing that disappears faster than a motorbike when there's a scally about is a box of wine when there's a scally bird about..

The bike would find more buyers if he had left it as a Basic. He should have used a 80/100GS as a donar bike for the HPN :rob

I wondered why I hadn't seen it on ebay myself? Then I remembered that I sort the bikes in price order from low to high, and I must have lost interest long before I got to those sort of price levels.:D

The old saying " a fool and their money is easily parted". I wish I was rich enough to pay £15k for an old airhead.:augie

Got my R65 engine back this afternoon and hopefully going to bung it back into the new frame over the weekend. When frame and everything is fully sorted, I fancy having it powder coated in HP2 blue. :)
The entire Africa Twin front end complete with new front wheel is all sorted now. I did think about nicking some bits off Bertha for this one but decided to leave Bertha alone for this year and just enjoy riding her. It's the only vehicle that I own that doesn't need any attention at the moment.

Got plenty of projects on the go at the moment:
1. Build R65 off-roader for Big Bike Rally Challenge (or whatever it is called this week/year:) )
2. Build Yam 600 into track day bike
3. Build CBR400RR into Suzuka 8hr Endurance replica
4. Rebuild KTM 300 ready for Salisbury plain Enduro in March.
5. Fettle R100RS, R80/7 and R80RT to try to make them run better and stop!
6. Full service on Peugeot Speedfight 100 so it can be used as "life raft" on back of Hymer (when Hymer engine is fixed).
7. Respray spare 30lt tank for R1100GS.
8. Service Aprilia trials bike and get out riding it.
9. Refurbish horsebox for when SWMBO can ride again.
10. Fix rust spots on Skoda
11. Fix fridge in boot of Bentley for this summer's holiday.

At least its warmed up a bit so I should be in my workshop most of the time from now on. Beats working for a living.:D

Just my 2p...

He's open to offers and there's a heck of a lot of top-spec parts on that bike that would cost a mint to put together.

The Andrew Sexton motor will be a peach too.

You could get it for the price of a new 1200GS which will lose money every year whilst it will hold or even increase in value whilst you enjoy riding it.

Someone just buy the bloody thing for god's sake so I can stop thinking about it.

Hpn

So what's it worth? Someone has made an offer but eBay does not say how much. They don't come up for sale that often. What do our resident experts think?:ChrisKelly

I don't think that anyone who truely understands airheads would ever offer £15,000

Buy a simple GS and thrown your own expensive bits at it, more fun :thumb2

I would have thought most will think like this, as you need to have at least a blue belt in airhead geekery to appreciate a bike like this - at which point you will want to create your own.

Sure there is instant consumer satisfaction in taking down a 1043 HPN in one go, but people may not pay a huge premium over cost basis for this.

I suspect that lead times in HPN frame mods are in part a conscious choice by them to create latent mystique/demand for 2nd hand prices to get round the issues above.

it comes down to if you want to own an HPN engineered bike really. theres not loads around and all the ones ive seen are over £10k . I'm sure with a £12k in your hand more or less would buy it from the owner.
is any other old bike worth what people pay? people pay what i regard as alot of money for stuff id never pay for . ie £6k for an old sixties money bike or £10k for an early mark 1 le mans , triumph trident or rd500.
if i wanted one id pay £12k for something id always wanted theres not many options are there if it has to be an HPN bike . its easy to spend on any project and your £2500 airhead can set you back £5000 buy the time you go through it front to back, so i dont think its outrageous to spend money on a special.
certainly better value and loads cooler than a custom bike built by jesse james or the like:D

theres plenty of people who lose £12 grand in the first year on there new 5 series or whatever, you wouldnt loose a bean on an HPN.

HPNs like this are BA, esp since it has the 1043 engine

I get that there is a hurdle to get over in order to want to embark on a rebuild (even if you outsource work to a mechanic).

At 1200GS pricing - its a sweet alternative for many and a no brainer to some

However I would not want to pay a huge premium to getting a new bike built at HPN.

Unless you have a gaping hole in your diary this Spring to head off into the sun without your cel phone...

A new ful spec HPN with proper engine mods would set you back up to @£30k.Many don't realise how special these can be, a full on engine rebuild, with all new and upspec'd parts and tune can cost £ 7k. You have to look at the whole project, not that it started off as a £ 1500 R80GS. A full spec 1200 GSA with all the bits will cost £ 15k, so these bikes represent great value ( I think) as they won't depreciate in the same way.
