If any of you guys are offered a v.clean looking airhead engine from an employee of TNT let me know.

The engine is easily distinguishable as it has the narrower cylinders of the 1043 HPN pistons and a kick-start gearbox

The whole pallet "disappeared" in transit down to Italy

I don't expect to see it again, but was hoping to make the on-sale more challenging

Richie Moore spend a lot of time and I spent a lot of money making this into a torque-tractor :(

Moorspeed motor missing

Very sorry to hear of your loss , will keep a look out for your precious Metal

Phil

How fuc*ing annoying is that - sorry to hear that. Thieving scumbags.

Will keep it in mind......

How long has it been missing?
In big pallet systems it is quite easy for a pallet to be misdirected or missed.
It may very well be sat in a corner of a warehouse somewhere.

Bad news, let's hope it has just been misplaced. Do you know where it was last recorded as being? Still in the UK or did it make it to Italy?

thanks for the condolences

been missing for over a month now and TNT have given up trying to find it and want to get into insurance (non)payment discussions.

the carburettor box from the pallet made it down to Italy, so impossible to know when this was separated from the rest of the pallet.

Its possible that its in some warehouse corner, but now looking less likely

lesson for next time - put engine in wooden box and screw it down good

good grief that sucks fella
I hope it turns up uk pallets lost one of our shipments in january it turned up six weeks late ,and it was a 2 meter long 1 meter high pallet ,quite how they lost that.
Lets keep our eyes peeled on eBay i wish you all the luck in finding this

I doubt this makes any difference, but i saw lastnight that whistl (formerly TNT) had gone into administration and suspended its services. Sounds like that could mean that everything is not quite as organised as it would be if they wenrt in the middle of a meltdown.

If Ritchy Has Sent it they will only Talk to him aboute compinsatIon so I hope you paide him for inschured transit I will kép my eyes aut on German ebay !

The engine wasn't shipped from Moorespeed.

Some thieving bastard has got their hands on something quite special.

Track it to last known location and see if possible to involve relevant police at that point. I sent a box of rare bike bits for rechroming to a well regarded UK caroming operation. Box of precious bits disappeared and could not be located by the addressee, I had record of delivery and a copy of the signature but they could not be found. However they were suddenly found when I asked about who the police should be liaising with in investigating the theft. I guess only works if you can pin down last location. Still if insurance is willing to pay not worth the hassle unless it's a sentimental project.

its all sentimental in airhead land

your right, its still possible it turns up (and once TNT receive a full list of invoices its possible they look harder)

but don't want to get my hopes up

Just another thought... I've seen it where a shipping company significantly damages something and instead of trying to put it right... the item gets scrapped (whatever that means) and they just put a claim through insurance. Its a lot less hassle for them.

I've wondered how the whole insurance thing works on older engines and parts as when I shipped everyting to canada I had to insure everything... the problem was that if I insure for replacement cost for some harder to get airhead parts...it seemed crazy expensive if I could even get them at all. In other cases... like the bikes... how would I even find another good condition G/s or ST.... so whats it value then... do I insure for what I paid or for how much it would cost to replace... In the end I went for what my costs were as when I saw the total insurnace for the cost to replace... that price was what I had paid for most of the parts in the first place! Minefield and either way I think we lose.
