HSBC Holiday Insurance covers 1200cc bikes

Hi everyone

went into HSBC today and got a manager to call Aviva who do Premier account customers holiday insurance

asked her to verify if we are covered or not and specifically pointed out the above 125cc exclusion

was told fact the following:
must be riders own bike (any cc bike no exclusions)
must be road legal in the UK
must where proper motorcycle clothing

the cover will pay any accident costs medical costs flights home and air ambulance if req

the other important thing is the passenger is ONLY covered if they are also a HSBC premier account holder

the other good thing with this account is all cash point transactions and sales are free of charges

please note this thread only applies to HSBC bank and it would be best to double check your own bank

That sounds good, but also check the "small print" for words like "incidental" and ""occasional" as these are commonly used in many Travel Policies which at first glance would seem to be suitable but in reality won't cover a dedicated Motorcycle Touring holiday. In other words many policies will cover you if you are on holiday and hire a bike for a couple of days as this is deemed incidental or occasional but won't cover a dedicated motorcycling holiday or trip where the "Main Purpose" of your trip is Motorcycle Touring.

you are right to question this
i sat in front of the manager while she spoke to the Aviva guy
i asked the questions for her to relay
he said this cover is for a dedicated motorcycle trip from start to finish
its for premier account holders only with HSBC

(Premier Account sounds posh but any twat can have one - just means you pay £12.95 per month for a host of free extras - most of these suit motorcyclists very well)

but the very important bit is the passenger MUST also have the same account or the passenger WILL NOT be covered

BUT if anyone out there from Aviva or HSBC know somthing different please take 2 mins to post - last thing i wanna do is ruin someones holiday
