I was speaking to a HSE motorcycle Paramedic about a month ago and he told me that the HSE had purchased a number of Harley Davision motorcycle's to complement the fast responce unit.

I said, your kidding....

He said, I'm not.........:rob

Anyone watch the programme I think on Ch5 earlier in year about the English paramedics & police bikers? Not a bad show I thought. Not a Harley in sight, think they were all (or mostly) RT's

:jes:jes

Who the fcuk makes these hairbrained decisions :nenau
:blast

I've no idea, a deciding factor may have been that all the Guards FJR 1300's have been recalled (inside source):mmmm

Major panic now in the Traffic Corps:eek: with the high profile visits next month and the Garda Bike Safe course has been cancelled until further notice:(.

The medic I was talking to was part of the HSE panel and he was proposing the 1200GS but recons they were rejected because of their seat height, a lot of short medic riders in the HSE.:D

Seems an odd decision on the face of it, but thought I read somewhwere that the HD is factory-built as a paramedic spec from Harley? If so might cost a lot less overall than retrofitting a GS or similar? Still an odd choice all the same, but I bet there's the hand of a management accountant at work here...

For a minute I was wondering why the Health & Safety Executive needed fast response motorcycles :blast

a bike like that could be worth a heap of money in 30+ years, perhaps we're not seeing the bigger picture here....:augie

also how do the medics feel about having to wearing arseless leather chaps, and leather jackets with loads of tassles?

HSE

The reason apparentyl they chose the Harleys was that Harley Davidson gave them an agreed buy pack price in a few years time.
Obviously this makes sense for Harley as they will ensure they get all the service and parts costs.
The Guards are in trouble with their Yamahas becasue their rear suspension units are collapsing, word is they have to ge greased regularly and there is a suspicion that they may not have been.

The word is that they were never greased in the first place JJH former Fjr owner and member of fj owners club who recommend that the job be carried out on new Fjrs

What did you expect them to purchase?
HSE means Harley Society Eire.:JB

Did they ever hear of lowering kits? Just another HSE fcuk up to add to the many they already have

Definition of the word Ambulance

Make of it what you will!

ambulance
n
a motor vehicle designed to carry sick or injured people,
Latin ambulare to walk

Is there an Emergency Breakdown Vehicle that follows them around? :nenau

Sorry Wookie but 33000km+ on my Harley and not a glitch, no breakdowns, nothing :augie
55000km on my k1200r, clutch+basket, cam chain & sprockets, side stand switch failure :nenau
720€ for a 35000 km service not including tyres

No doubt these people got a better deal than BMW for example could offer, if it makes economic sense, why not

:hide

I'm with Bogman, never had a problem with my HD's in the past, I actually think I prefer it it the FJR's
