Anyone heard of, or had dealings with the above at all please. ?

I dont use a satnav in the UK but thought about getting one for a short trip to the Alps next year.

I hvent got a clue about satnavs anyway, and can only guess that they are a small fortune and may not be worth it for the fortnight I would use it.

(Unless there are cheapish ones on the market ?????)

Thanks people

Best thing you can do is buy the next 2610 that comes up on here.
They seem to have settled at about £90 for a good one with all the bits and V9 mapping.
Perfect for the odd occasion I use one.

I have a BMW Navigator II (2610) in the loft. I also have the BMW mounting bracket that came with it. I believe it has a car mounting kit too. I can try and dig it out if you are interested. :beerjug:

Yes, im interested Doberman thanks.

Pm if you like when you find it.

Regards

If you have never used a satnav before I recommend you get one now so that you can get used to using it. You can set it up on your bike in a position to suit you and use it on a few familiar roads so you are learning how to use the interface without the added stress of doing it in an unfamiliar environment.

Do take paper maps on the trip as well. They are so much better to get an overview of an area and for route planning. For me a satnav is a great tool for finding petrol, hotels and navigating urban areas but they are no substitute for good old fashioned skills like reading road signs and a bit of common sense.

Yep, always navigate by using maps, or LOS navigation ("Load o Sh**te").

I honestly dont see the need for me to use satnav in the UK. It generally doesnt matter where I go or how I get there, and part of the deal for me is actually getting lost sometimes.
As well as that, I have been with others ( 3 times, in cars it has to be said) when the satnav has caused nothing by grief.

However, however; my planned trip to the Alps next year will require me to get there, back and the bits in between done quite quickly.
Hence the queries.

Renting at short notice with no prior experience/practice with sat nav in general, let along the brand/model that they supply, would be frustration waiting to happen. You'd come back wondering why you bothered.

Get a cheap used one at least 3 months before departure and use extensively making sure that you lean how to plot reliable routes and it will be an entirely different story.
