Hi

I have decided to return to the "Dark Side" as my RT riding brother likes to call it.

I have just bought a new model 1200GS with Premium and Dynamic Packs. I am aware of all the problems with wet and mucky legs from spray etc thrown up by the back wheel. The rear shock and swinging arm would also be vulnerable to stones etc.

So I would like to know what the solutions are for the following and where best to purchase them. I will not be going off road......intentionally

(a) Hugger (or other device)
(b) Crash-bars or Cylinder Guards
(c) Fender extender

Thanks:thumb2

I put Motech engine bars and MachineArt X-heads on my '05 1200GS before our trip to Alaska in '09. Also got an oil filter guard from www.nippynormans.com. Surprised that you think the rear shock and swing arm on one of the world's best enduro bikes should be so vulnerable to stones though ...

It has one of val-h mudslings on too.
Sw-motech upper and lower bars and Touratech head guards.
Yours will be a twin cam same as that so the only head guards you can get apart from BMW is Touratech
I have better pictures if anyone is interested?

I don't think I am good enough with my hands to do that sort of DIY.......but not being good with my hands is a life long problem:augie :P

While I am on. Do you need a special mounting plate for a Vario top box or is it like the RT were the box connects directly to the existing BMW rack?
