Mud slinger every time

Ilimberger carbon fibre hugger - smart as a carrot. Not for off road use.

forget the hugger mudsling plus side infill panels for a much cleaner rear end:eek::D

I have both.

Had to trim the Ilmberger carbon hugger down a bit as it rubbed between tyre and mudsling under suspension compression.

I have also Ilmberger better than nothing but front/bottom end had to be trimmed to clear ESA widget and the RHS rubs on pannier frame mounting clamp. There is also a 4 inch gap to the BMW wheel shovel that sprays kak everywhere.

I have a 2nd hand Mudsling to fit. MachineArt are seriously laughing at what they charge for a bit of blow moulded plastic.

Avoid cheap, nasty Pyramid huggers. I have a BestRest spraystopper (a thick neoprene shroud) and it works beautifully.

Mudsling

I had an Ilmberger Carbon Hugger, but took it off as it was too focussed on road use. Looked really good though, and polished up a treat.
Then put on a Mudsling (Max version?).
Only have about 5000 miles on it, but it really is very very good.
I have Ohlins on the GS Adv, so it is easy to see if anything hits the shock, and my legs and can tell the rest of the tale.

Like all things biking it is personal, but I am delighted with Mudsling.
If you are looking for cool, then CF hugger.

Maybe conside putter some clear tape under the tie wraps you are in an enthusiastic mood. I was!

PVC tape on the frame under any shield held with zip-tie-wraps always makes sense to avoid rubbed paint.

thanks for the answers peeps looks like a slinger then time to start hunting

I've got a pyramid hugger. Seems OK but looks a bit close to the wheel. Where's the best place to get a mudsling (max)?

ok got the mudslinger and found it is really close to back wheel have tried moving but seems to be rubbing when on centre stand but cannot hear it when pushing bike in and out of garage anyone else experienced this

thanks

not me, a good inch clearance

I had an ilmberger hugger and also had the problem of it fowling. I had to cut it to stop this. The biggest problem though was the way it amplified rear end noise which I found very annoying. I now have a mudsling and much prefer it.

My Ilmberger was a none ESA type so I cut away the front and pop riveted a rubber sheet over the area. The rattle where it rubbed on the swing arm was sorted with some of the same rubber glued on to stop it rubbing.

But I now have a Mudsling as well and removed the standard shovel. The bike is certainly cleaner.

For keeping muck off the bike, Im pretty sure the short huggers are a waste of money. What's really needed is something to go from the shovel right over the wheel to near the swing arm pivot with a hugger type support bracket.

Less pretty, but the bike will be clean.

Mudsling, every time. Huggers on a GS look ridiculous.:rob
