Hugger or Slinger

My hugger was cheap and looks ok. But when I can be arsed its coming off. I have some ideas for a longer mudguard. Hopefully, it wont look rubbish or at least do enough of a good job to forgive its looks.

I recently fitted the newer version of the Mudslinger. I bought the front mudguard extender and the mudslinger as a set from Nippynorman which does save a considerable amount on buying them individually. They are bloomin expensive for what they are but do fit very well.

Even though they are expensive. Intend to keep my, new to me 2010 GS, for many years and rationalised the cost by the potential savings on parts that might otherwise get damaged over the years if they were permanently wet and muddy.

I did notice that water still leaked between the join at the top where the Mudslinger screws into the liner of the bike and still dripped a little onto my esa unit. I cured this by putting a thin bead of black sealant on the join and now it's perfect.

I have no issues regarding fit near the wheel. If it doesn't fit properly, try removing the caked on mud first :augie

I can also recommend the front mudguard extender. No drilling and, once fitted, it looks like it grew there and not an after market part.

If you plan to keep the bike long term get some invisible film for the back frame rails. Stones will otherwise eventually chip the paint and rust gets going unseen.

Some will say I'm being negative/scaring the noob or whatever, but I'm just pointing out that paint is never 100% weather proof when its being shot blasted by council grit and chippings. Anti chip film solves the problem.

Cheers for that tip Bendy toy but here in Jersey our roads are paved with gold ;)

There is the obvious loose gold nuggets that fly up but with it being quite a soft metal the BMW super hard deep paintwork is not affected :Motomartin

Furthermore we are not allowed to go fast enough to flick up too much precious metal :toungincheek
