Depends if you call constantly rubbing on the tyre a problem It always rubs on the swingarm side of the tyre. Distanzias on mine (but not for much longer)
Sorry Guys, I should have said the Combination of Avon Storm ST Rear and Avon Azarro Front, ie pure Road Tyres. My present Metzeler Tourances don,t rub at all and thats the way I want it, but would like to try the Avons.
Well, first I painted the inside of the Hugger with White Emulsion. Then I refitted it and with the Rear Brake Caliper removed (so that any rubbing I heard was from Tyre/Hugger contact). I then ground away the "witness" markes on the Hugger inside surface. I took about 4 attempts before I achieved the required clearance. Fine Tuning was achieved by fitting 1.5mm washers between the Hugger Bracket and the Brake Caliper Mounting Bracket.
This in effect moves the Hugger "out" by that amount. Job done. By the way I have just refitted the original "Spray Catcher" which involved some minor surgery to the Mounting Bracket and Drilling the Hugger Bracket to take one of the three Spray Catcher mounting Bolts. I hope that all the effort will be worth it.
I have recently fitted the Storm/Azaro combination and have a 3 year old M/C concepts hugger. D607's and Battlewings fouled the hugger but mainly over bumps . I took the grinder to it to remove material from the contact points with some success but after a few months contact points would re-appear . I felt that heat , movement , vibration and general wear and tear warped the hugger over time . A couple of thousand miles into the Avon , there seems to be little or no contact with the hugger - far less than with the hybrid tyres - and to my naked eye the clearance between tyre and hugger is greater .
