Overpriced crap or genuine quality product?

:nenau

By quality I mean that it functions well, is comfortable to wear AND lasts several years.

Good and comfortable, although a little tight around the calfs.

I like em.

They ain't cheap but there are more comfie than most.

If we`re talking about Hunter wellies imo they`re overpriced crap. Only good for mincing about pretending to be lord of the manor or a moneyed farmer. If you want some wellies go and buy some from your local workwear shop for about £16. They`ll have steel toes and a sole you can push a spade into the ground with and last years. Mrs Big Lee used to have them, Dads a moneyed farmer :thumb , and she soon flung them when she was trying to dig the garden over wearing them and had sore feet for a week.

i've worn a 3rd hand pair of Argyle steel capped wellies for many years but they have finally bitten the dust :(

can't find replacements anywhere, only non steel version in the wrong size.

gave in and bought a pair of overpriced, poncy french green wellies called Aigle. good fit but tres flimsy.

I think they're designed for walking, shooting & fishing etc.

We use the peasants for the digging thingy, in their cheaper more common wellies.

:D

You're right though, they're no good for really tough work.

Yah Good for walking in, light, comfortable. Find your local Agricultural supplier try yell .com, they have a good range £15 and up, they also do the safty steel toe cap boots, have used them for trail riding on holiday, cheap to, no vat about £15.00

Hunter (No not the Wellies)

As others have already posted:

If you want a pair of wellies for dog walking etc then Hunters are good for the job. They are designed to be flexible around the ankle and therefore comfortable for walking long distances.

For digging the garden - use a pair of agricultural wellies with a steel shank and toe caps.

I am on about my fourth pair of Hunters - they wear out quite quickly if you are "heavy" on your feet. My latest pair - Royal Hunter at £150 a pair - have a leather, hobnail sole. I bought these as I thought they would last longer than the standard issue. Alas, I am already on my second set of soles and it costs £50 for the resole - as much as a new pair of standard Hunter wellies.

Aigle are also very comfortable and can cost as much if you go for the leather lining.

hmm ....

Thanks for the feedback. I think I am probably more the £15 type :D

They did look nice in the Cordings shop window this lunchtime :D
