Here's the background story by the German (?) author, plus Facebook link:

"Owning a 701 Enduro, I became curious to learn more about the bike´s background. But apart from tech specs and repair manuals, there wasn´t much to find. In fact, dedicated groups like this one are highly informative and therefore very helpful. Still, many of my questions remained unanswered so I decided to make a book about the bike. As I would need input, I presented my idea of an objective publication at KTM/Husqvarna headquarters in Mattighofen, Austria and got positive response. In over six months of research, I was privileged to meet the people behind the 701 respectively 690 and had access to the archives, what enabled me to find hitherto undocumented stuff like the complete history of the LC4 engine. Doing it without fees, Husqvarna agreed to cover the printing and distribution thru its network. All this happened in 2025, so I am happy to announce the 701 Enduro book is now available in two versions, German or English, by request and for free at local dealers in Australia, Europe (Austria, Benelux, France, Germany, Italy, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland) and Japan. The constrain is that some nations like South Africa, all LATAM, the UK or the U.S. have not ordered it (yet). And as the book is an independent publication and no official Husqvarna product, there is no part number. As I am the author but not involved in the shipping, I encourage everyone interested to approach a dealer or importer so they know there is interest in that market. I am announcing this now so enthusiasts will be able to get a copy. Husqvarna Motorcycles is publishing a press release soon so awareness should grow. That said, I do hope the book will add some value to the profile of this awesome bike and that you´ll like it as much as I did writing it."

book details: 160 pages, 22 chapters plus extended tech specs of all model years, more than 200 mostly coloured images, format 25,5 x 19 cm, hardcover ›Swiss Broschur‹, total weight 760 grams. Print run 2500 copies (1000 in German, 1500 in English).
