Ok I have done a search, and got zilch, nada, nothing. So let me ask a question worthy of my newness.

Have any of you fitted a front end from a Husky 410/610 to your G/S (or ST) and were there any problems, how did the stem match up is there much of a size difference?

Is this just a silly idea

No it`s not a silly idea.

As you now know from looking at my old LegoBike conversion,it is possible to fit pretty much any item from any other bike to another.....the only limitations being your abilities and facilities,or the amount of money available to pay someone else to do it.

Don`t fall into the trap of thinking that if it isn`t on a website then it hasn`t been or can`t be done.

Likewise don`t fall into the trap of thinking too much or asking too many questions..........it`s far too easy to think yourself out of doing something or to spend longer asking and awaiting questions than to actually do it.

Measure up your donor bike and then measure up whatever you`re contemplating fitting.
Then you`ll know for yourself if something goes straight in (unlikely) or if there`s a need for some machining (and how much is needed).

Just go for it ! :beerjug:

Thanks, I may look deeper into this then, I have done searches all over the site now, but still can't find the beer and cakes:confused:

Get the job done...post some pics...and I`ll buy yer a beer. :beerjug:

Cakes just take up valuable beer space. :D

There is lots of data over at ADVR, in short I believe the largest obstacle is the off-set from the steering stem to the fork tubes... BMW is something like 36mm and most dirt bikes max out at 20mm.

Using the shorter triple will reduce steering lock...

There is a company in California that specialized in making custom steering stems for around $150 US

and there is always BMW boxer supplies that sells a "plug and play" custom triple that 45mm or 50mm forks slot into....

for a mere EUR563...

A number of ADVR's have put the Suzuki DR650 front end on their G/S's using the stock DR triple clamps...

Here is a shot of an R100GS that has an Ohlins front end and 20mm off-set triple I think from Honda with Ohlins forks sourced elsewhere

(sorry for the hot link Robb, let me know if I should kill it)

Feck me,look at the rake on it. :eek

Just needs a Captain America paintjob and some apehangers to finish it off. :D

You can also use the stock triple clamp, if you're not afraid of some tank bashing :D

That's how this was born:

This is with KTM WP forks. The stem needs some work too but that was done before i bought the forks.
I have sufficient steering angle, still a bit less than stock but acceptable.

Cheers,
Michel
