I am planning on doing a little work on a R1200C. I thought a bike lift would be a good idea. I have see a few for sale at varying prices.

Any guidance on purchase would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Dario

Best thing i've bought for a while, a scissor action sealy with a full width platform capable of lifting 450 kilo, top bit of kit!

Just checked MC454 I think!

Not going to get much reaction in this forum. (WC section)

Most owners here wouldn't have a clue what you are talking about.

I have had a Clarke hydraulic lift for several years but just changed it and got an Abba Skylift which is far superior, and takes up a lot less space.

Look up Sealey 365 on Ebay. One retailer sells them for around £330 Including delivery.

Hydraulic, and is scissor-design rather than the cheaper pantograph style.

That looked just like what i am looking for at around the figure i have to spend. Unfortunately it says in the advert that it is only suitable for bikes with a centre stand.
I will give them a call tomorrow to see if they have anything else that fits the bill.

Thanks for all the info so far guys.

I use a screw lift platform on top of my sealey lift, negates the need for a centre stand and is ideal for lifting one or both wheels off the deck

I would fit one of these to it (Used a "bikegrab" in the past) - to secure the front wheel, and the bike

I've never spotted the two different types.. Is the scissor action better than the pantograph style?

Scissor type I feel is structurally - better, and the platform elevates within the footprint of the base - the pantograph type, doesn't. (below)

I have a sealey 450kg model (parallelagram type), just make sure the bed is long and wide enough. Mine is long enough for sportsbike with front and rear paddock stands and strong enough for a gs.

Looks to be cheaply made and the table looks to be short You don't say what bike it's for though?

This is a far better ramp with extendable legs for greater stability Yes it's more money from new I picked a used one off here,it's fine for a 1200 GS & even a lardy 1150 too!

It is for a R1200C (did say at start of thread). This lift is only suitable for bikes with centre stand (again mentioned in earlier part of this thread).

Yes my bad :blast
I'm sure the lack of stand can be easily overcome with a paddock stand or a support through the rear wheel spindle until the front wheel is clamped Equally a platform/crib block next to the ramp for a sidestand to sit on would help whilst the bike was ratchet strapped to the ramp Just my morphine induced 2p

Edit What makes you think the one in your link is any more suitable for a bike with no mainstand?

Something like this would do the job too
