As I'm tired of choppiness on the front fork of the CT I've decided to give the HP fork spring upgrade a go.

Thought its worth a bash as I'm sick of the crap feel.

Anyone any experience of fork spring upgrades?

I had Ohlins springs in my VFR800. They were a good upgrade and we eventually worked out that there was more of an improvement to be had by upping the oil viscosity from 10W to 12.5W.

It makes sense that the if you change the spring rate, the damping should be altered to match.

He sorted me with an Ohlins for my GS but I've got it booked in with Honda for Wed once I get back. Problem is on ital and German roads its not that noticeable :blast

Trev, did you take the plunge and try the Hyperpro springs on your CT and if so what are your impressions. Like you i found the CTs ride quality harsh on rough surfaces and no amount of tweaking with settings can cure it. A few have tried swapping to the Hyperpros but the feeling i get is that they are better than the stock springs but only because the stock springs are so soft that anything would be an improvement. At the moment i'm thinking that it may be better to contact Maxton to see what they suggest but if the Hyperpros are a massive improvement it would be daft to rule them out.

cheers . . . Terry

The only thing that will work in the long run is a visit to Jim Hill.

You know it makes sense :P

Springs arrived but the guys couldn't install them as they needed a hyper pro tool. This has been ordered so I'm afraid no update as yet.

Thanks for replying Trev. Any idea what's needed, some sort of special spring compressor?
Slightly off topic (as usual for me, sorry) i had a test ride on the new KTM last week and really liked it. If you think the new 1200 BMW is better it must be a hell of a bike.
Sorry, never heard of Jim Hill so i checked him out. Couldn't see any mention of fork rebuilds but he does engine, gearbox and final drive rebuilds so he may be worth getting in touch with if you own a 1200 GS ;)
