Just rode muckspreader's 1150 with his new front and rear springs fitted from hyperpro (in a fetching SEXY purple!!!). They have transformed his tired and somewhat abused suspension. Ride quality and handling are greatly enhanced. Available for the 1200 as well. Why go to expense of replacing shocks and springs at the same time when this is a viable and cheaper alternative. Details available at www. hyperpro.com. Available through Hein Gericke stores nationwide. On my wanted list. RECOMMENDED :thumb

I don;t know how I managed it, but I managed to get hold of a set of Hyperpro shocks for the GS. Extremely good kit - similar quality to Ohlins but cheaper. Mine were 200 euros on eBay.de for the pair in "as new" condition (ie: still in their boxes). I've never had any issues with the damping of the standard shocks so replacing just the springs seems a pretty good alternative to full replacement of the shocks.

I don,t see them on the Hein G UK site?

What price are we talking, are there spring options as I am a B.U.F.F.

Welsh :rob

Am I missing something here?

I thought that when a shock was knackered it had as much to do with the damping being tired as a saggy spring  Surely I'd be better off rebuilding/replacing the whole unit :nenau

Yes and no, in my case the 1150 Pig is an old one 9/9/99 I had the damper rebuilt but the rear spring is "soft" it sinks when you roll it off the centre stand, plus I am a dainty 20 stone, so a harder spring would be prefferred anyway.

My 1150 ADV shock had bottomed out so hard that the body was flared. It was rebuilt by Maxton Engineering with a stiffer spring and the handling is much better.
Strangely this spring is purple

it takes at least 10 years for a decent shock spring to sag significantly.

most shocks wear out the piston and damper body in the first inch or so of movement - due to constant fluttering - the worse it gets - the worse it gets.

Duh! I still have a set of Hyperpro springs sitting here waiting to be fitted to my GSA, I think I have had them a year now and all they have done is gather dust, I was put off my horror stories of springs removing heads and using proper tools and my local bike shops say spring changing is a specialised thing.

I need to find a TUIT and get them done I guess. :(

Same problem with the flared body.

I need a new shock.

My rear shock has always been quite bad. However I have put the problem down to the preload adjuster as it doesn't make any difference whether it wound right up hard or soft.

I have posted a request for anyone getting rid of a pair of Ohlins in the For sales & Wanted section but as yet, no joy. So where can I find these Hyperpro jobbie whatsits?

If your preload adjuster isn't working, new springs won't help.

Hein Gericke do indeed supply HyperPro gear. Just ask them to check out the PDQ catalogue :thumb

BTW, all HyperPro stuff is custom built, so it may take a while to arrive. But at about £120 cheaper a shock than Ohlins (for a 12, anyways), it's probably worth the wait

Any Hein Gericke store can order these springs for you through their supplier Performance Parts. They also supply exhaust systems and other shinny must haves!!!! :thumb

The plan was simple, like my brother-in-law

Oi Welsh,

that looks like you have a chain driven bike with oily rear side  :D

Any idea is there a HyperPro web page ordering option too, are they for 1100 as well? I might need a stronger rear spring and if you say it's relatively cheapo and qualtiy then... :beerjug:
