Any one been over to Norway can give me an idea of the cost of stopping in the huts. was over in 2011 and seem to remember between £30 and £60 a night. We did a lot of camping and the odd Hut but thinking of just staying in the Hytters on next visit, cut down on luggage etc.
Thanks

Hi Ted,

I was just about to post the same query so hope you don't mind if I piggy back on your thread.

We have a group traveling in early June to the following places so looking for good hyttes that are recommended close by with good facilities.

any advice or heads up would be greatly appreciated.

we are looking to travel light so would rather not take sleeping bags, and cooking equipment is out of the question.

cheers,

Around 50 quid a go for a small one is what I remember from a couple of years ago.

Bear in mind ,when you are not taking cooking stuff that it is VERY expensive to eat out by all accounts
I went last year and it was costly enough buying in s markets / shops

Depends how touristy the campsite is. I used a few last summer. Priced ranged form £25 to £40. Slept from 4 to 8 the largest being the cheapest because of location. Either way good value if you don't fancy the tent.

Price starts from £20 per night, small site with very basic shed, it's all you need!! Yes you can pay £30 - 40 per night and more. Watch for snow in the high roads in June. We had some problems in 2008 in June. Fantastic country You can take some dry Food and tins with you, people make too much of Norway being expensive. The extra cost is well worth it, over the course of two weeks, it's not £100's and £100's pounds more Enjoy, we are hoping to go in July this year!!

The prices and facilities of the huts vary quite abit. The cheaper ones, £30ish are very small, have small amount of basic cooking gear and no toilet/shower(like the ones at Voss campsite). The nicer/more spacious/scenic/more equipped ones are £50-£60, eg oddland huts near norheimsund. Some of the hut owners give you a very precise list of all the cleaning you have to do before you check out! (Lillehavn) All the huts were lovely and warm(weather can be cold and wet in May/June). Food is not too expensive from supermarkets if you shop wisely. Eating out the food was not particulaly special, lots of farmed salmon etc.
