Yes off to Utah and wondered if anyone had been ?

I am wondering what helmet to take . I have a Tour cross 4 and an Arai open face Ram

I love wearing an open face , it has a visor . We are on GS’ but have a day in MOAB on a KTM 350 for a bit of gentle off road nothing mental

I prefer the open feeling of an open face , but get there’s more protection with the TX4

Whadyya think? I can’t make up my bloody mind ……… poor me !

Looking forward to it . Thanks in advance Robbo

Tour cross. It's got a nice big wide visor opening. Utah is huge and the distances are huge. You will be doing big days. The other thing I strongly recommend is a photochromatic visor if you can get one as it is bright, really bright. Failing that a dark visor plus a clear visor. You will be blown away by the scenery. I've been lots of places but never seen anything like it. It's like being on another planet. The winds can be pretty extreme too.

A visit to Arches National Park is recommended as is a visit up to Park City and Sundance, Robert Redfords ranch in the mountains 👍👍

Thanks guys TC packed plus lots of layers to swap around . Looking forward to it , never been in that part of the world
You'll love it. It's one of the most incredible places we've been to. I'd post some photo's but don't want to spoil it for you. Try to do some of the unpaved desert roads on the GS if you can

We went in April a few years ago and went from hiking in 28c in Zion National Park one day to being in a blizzard with roads closed in Bryce National park the following day. It's no more than a 2 hour drive from one to the other, about 80 miles but with a big altitude difference. Layers are the answer and take the Tour X. Utah is brilliant and I'd love to go back as there is so much we didn't get to see. Antelope canyon, across the state border in Arizona is well worth a detour if you can.

Sounds good have a great trip.
Oh and open face helmet.

Head south to Arizona! Lol
Or nip next door to Colorado - great trails there 👍
Utah is weird and fool of even weirder people!!
Openface with goggles (for the rocks that come flying up)

I have been loads of times, my ex-business partner owns a fair bit of it....However, he has managed to completely fuck up Moab, which is where he lives, he didn`t take to kindly to that opinion.

Moab used to be a lovely quiet place, until he got involved at local Govt. level.

All roads out of Moab are good, loads of wonderful geological anomalies, from asteroid impacts to wind and rain erosion, all in the national parks.

I have done much canyoning through all of them...There are also ancient petroglyphs and pictographs...So good to see.

I have arrowheads from this region of the US, you are no longer allowed to take them out of the USA.

Micro brewery was good in Moab and good food, but it may well be gone now, 5 years since I was last there.

Off roading is definitely worthwhile, as is the whitewater stuff, but the treks off the trails in the canyons are the best, complete silence can be had.

Enjoy, the people are the best.

Try to fit in Zion national park, Brice national park and do a couple of days in Page on the Arizona border to do Antelope Canyon, Horse shoe bend and Monument Valley. All totally different and all stunning.

We’re doing all those places , one disappointment was that Eagle rider had only 1 GS when we turned up . There are 8 of us so a bit of a faff .I have ended up with a 1250 RT which initially I hated and almost started crying 😥😥Anyway turns out it’s pretty good , very comfortable and fits me ok . I guess I just had it in my head I would do it on. GS or GSA . Anyway having a great trip so far . Las Vagus is weird but interesting. No Tiger or prostitute in my room when I checked this morning 😎. American does seem very different to the last time I was here .

Shame your on an RT, White Rim Trail is a superb off road circular 100 mile trail.

I don’t suppose he’s Mormon? lol
Think most in State Government are 🤔

Out in Moab desert today . What a place . We hired KTM 350dirt bikes with recleuse clutches . Wow what an amazing place . Lot of 4 by 4 s few bikes . Some quite technical stuff and a lot of sand . It’s been a while since I did off road but muscle memory returned .Having a great trip . Eight of us , all know each other well . Great crack in the evenings as well . Recommend this part of America , though they won’t always sell you a whole bottle of wine !IMG_2838.jpegIMG_2839.jpegIMG_2841.jpeg

We went in 2022, part of our C2C from San Francisco to NYC.

We loved Moab despite reading on here nothing good. We also loved Monument Valley & Zion.

Tour X would be my choice.

Enjoy

Jeez very wet today riding the million dollar highway . 4 degrees C as well . Quite a change from Utah . We are heading for Arizona and hopefully some warmer weather. America is vast , you can’t believe it until you have ridden in it . It’s expensive as well as the economy is very strong . Plus they love a 22% tip ! I’m really enjoying it , it’s a trip in a lifetime alright and the Americans are friendly! I’d recommend it as a trip
