Hi there, I have just joined up as my mate ( 'Dakarnoway' ) tells me of the sites virtues !

I am considering buying an F650 for work commuting and an upcoming trip to Morocco.

The one I am considering have a sniff at is a 40k miler on an 03 plate. Are there any known faults with these bikes that I should know about etc.

Any hints and tips greatfully received !!

Hi Andy and welcome to the madhouse.
I've a 650 twin so unable to give advice on the single i'm afraid but never despair, some Tosser will be along shortly with more experience :D

they are a good bike to own, dont have any real problems, easy enough to work on, easy to ride, i would say moost of the 650 single owners here also go on www.f650.co.uk

good starting point i guess.

I think they are a very underrrated bike but then we have two.....!

They don't suffer from many problems compared to the more 'expensive' BM's and are pretty cheap to own and the fuel economy is very impressive.

The F650GS's are strong and the engine has enough poke for most things and they can carry an impressive load when touring aswell!

Chaps and Chapesses - impressive reaction to a first thread, thank you. Whatabout a re bore? Is 40k miles on a single getting close to having a strip down and new piston and rings ?

When would be 'normal' (all things being equal and the bike not being a Friday afternoon build) sort of mileage for a big chunk of work being done ?

Having owned Jap twins and fours for years and a Husky single for all but 3000 miles this is new territory for me !!
