just got round to reading this.
my we have ruffled some feathers havent we.
in response to your comments about the more juvenile members constantly sniping & interrupting when a sensible question is asked ,I agree with you entirely, but I must say it dosen't bother me that much as if I see certain names I just dont bother to look at the post.
I find this works for me.

There are probably universities in Wisconsin, California, maybe even Arkansas, where theses are being written at this very moment about the purpose and effect on normal human beings of the internet generally, and forums in particular. It is, one has to admit, quite fascinating. The anonymity thingy is central. I guess it gives people who can’t get their opinions listened to in normal social situations, an opportunity to get heard. Resulting in bollox or genius, perhaps. Then there’s the language, ritual, abbreviations and really weird to me, the use of smileys to enhance meaning (what’s wrong with words?). Forums also give the opportunity for folk to post opinions without any preconceptions by the reader as the their age, sex or social position. Even, more seriously, to try and develop a new personality. And what’s with the repeated schoolboy maxims, aphorisms and ‘deep’ sayings that seem so popular on postings? Are we meant to be impressed?
Faaked if I know, but on reflection who gives a shit?
These sites are quite useful when it comes to find an after market exhaust, though.

Nice little earner for the owners of the sites as well, although none are run to make a profit, fnarr, fnarr.

Unnecessary comment, Le singe. I doubt very much if the "earnings" from this site begin to cover the huge expenditure of time and effort put in by the organisers of this site. I've always felt we all owned it and, as an adult in full control of my own decisions, I ante up the sponsorship willingly and am grateful for the vast and cheap information that is made available to me. I've just saved hundreds of pounds by having the GS (excellently) serviced by Steptoe - whom I would never have come across without this site. Worth a tenner by my reckoning.

Fanum, don't let him get to you mate - we're with you...

I agree. Fanum, don't let him get to you. He's a bitter and twisted loner and everything he writes is to strike at the heart of what we enjoy. I know it's a bit fascist, but I'd rather see him banned and the whole lot removed. Then his IP put on show for his home address or cafe to be located, so he can then be hunted down like a dog. He can then be dragged away from the safety of his computer ( lives with Mum no doubt ) and made to wear a Turgeg outfit and tour x whilst parading round town (looking in windows) on a super-clean GSA with full luggage, for all to see. Then shot :thumb

It cost me about £12.000 to ride a GSA Ewin look a likey with kit , and he's going to get it as a punisment ? :mcgun

The statement was made about Forums in general, why does everybody take things so personally?

Oh dear. Whoever he is it seems that he's hit a few nerves. Kneejerk ain't in it.....

I read somewhere that 70% of human communication is non-verbal, so I guess the smileys help to set the tone of the message and remove any ambiguity. :D :D :D

look sorry but

look sorry to but in agian but i still cant get those smilie wanky things to work and you used so many of them i think you may have my share
please return them

Come on then original GSer - we've had sooooo much fun thus far - can you post some more of your bile and give us all some more comments to over-react to ? Please ? please ? pretty please ?

By the way, I need to admit that I have no BMW or Hein Gericke clothing, no alpinestar boots or a Tour-X lid. does that mean I'm banned from the site ?

get a life man - you're way too stressed out :spl1f:

I went out and bought a new set of BWM clothing this weekend, which probably helps to reinforce his argument that we are all stereotypical tossers. They are even in a nice shade of red to match my R1200GS. Personally I couldn't give a fat rats arse what OGSER says, he is entitled to his opinion and I am entitled to mine.

As Steptoe would say:

If you don't like it, go do one...... :dabone

I welcome you lot as newbie's and blame Ewan for taking the GS away from it's cult status and in to the mass market contrived pile of crap that it's become today.

I've avoided this thread so far, but I just bit! So, FWIW, here's what I think................

I don't think Ewan gives a toss! :dabone

what all the best Gs'ers are accessorising with this year
