Yesterday I collected my 'new' 1150GS - it's so good to be back on an 1150 after 3 years (and a misguided attempt to like a 1200 - they give me back pain after 20 minutes riding
).
But I think the bike is weird. It's a 2002 model (probably), single spark, registered December 2002. Black engine/gearbox and SERVO BRAKES
But I thought servo brakes were fitted only to twin-spark 2003 models? Or have I got a rare "let's see how it works" bitsa change-over model? It's had a new servo pump fitted already but I'm not sure it's going to stay fitted for long - the brakes are very effective but I'm not a servo fan.
The other thing is that it has a JAH gearbox which isn't mentioned here:

but it's black with a long 6th. And it's incredibly smooth-changing - far better than the 'box on the '09 1200 that I rode last weekend and in a different league to how I remember my old (2000 model) 1150 being. It's had a gearboxoil change recently as part of the 24k service so maybe that's something to do with it, but I doubt a main dealer would have put in anything other than 'standard' gear oil.
Things I've discovered since collecting it last night:
1. There's no 'key' for the aftermarket oil filler - circlip pliers and a return to an original filler plug on the cards.
2. There are no rubber plugs on the throttle body balancing stubs - it didn't run badly without them but I've taped them up until I can get replacement plugs. And I should check the spark plugs to see how lean it's been running.
3. I LOVE 1150GSs
(I knew that anyway, but I'd forgotten how much)
It's good to be back. Forgive me if I ask some stupid questions as I investigate the bike further, although it's all pretty familiar stuff.

) just under 5000RPM. Pulls fine in 6th!
