On the ride home from work the.! ESA warning has come on the dash and the ESA has stopped working.

After calling bmw roadside they want to recover my bike.

Is now sat at the side of the road waiting to be recovered :-(

Hope it's nothing too sinister and easily resolved. Good luck.

Not the first to be recovered, nor even rejected under the good old lemon laws :comfort

Cue 'Engineer' to say how fantastic they are and anything that happens to them must be the rider's fault............................

Not the first and not the last, I would quess:rolleyes:

Well back home now,

Bmw have said it's dangerous to ride, the suspension went all soft and gooey so it's not unridable but definitely not rite, yes there is dampness around the ESA unit

GSA's are shit, the standard GS is far superior - so yes it was the rider's fault for buying it :D

Lol its a brand new incarnation of the gsa and so far l have loved it to bits.

It's just a pity it looks like I'm one of the guineapigs thats all

But for ones that are like me we find the problems so that bmw can make it an even better bike

good luck with your GSA there. Personally drew the line with electronic suspension because of the complexity and endless possible failure modes.

:D I work for a company that designs and manufactures stuff, so I know that things can go wrong, faulty components from suppliers, errors in assembly etc...... I am sure that BMW will simply replace the part and then everything will be fine.

Got it back from local dealer this weekend and it's handles a lot differently and positively. All that's been done is to erase some can-bus faults that was in the system.

So I'm monitoring for the time being.

ESA Warning

I had the same issue on my new GSA yesterday. ESA lamp, suspension went weird.

I turned out took off the seat, wiggled a few connectors and all was back to normal.

Suspect it could be software rather than anything else...

I suspect you could be right. My 2014 GS threw an ESA warning one morning last week on the ride to work. By the time came to ride home that evening the warning had cleared. Bike went through its run in service at the weekend and no issues detected.

Because wiggling the connector fixed the software ...?
