I did it...

Next you'll be telling us you junked your Nokia N95 and upgraded to one of these :D:D

That is a crap analogy…

I’m not against technology, I’m just ranting about pointless intervention that panders to egos of ‘weeners’

… here’s an analogy

My airhead has a nice clean throttle response which enables me to control it in many different situations – The HP2 which uses later technology is even better.

My point is because they (BMW HP2 designers) have used this to give me just the one version which is a very smooth and clean throttle and delivery of the power & torque which I then use in combination with my own observations of the road/trail conditions and desire as to what I want or not want to happen I dont need modes, and if any bike did a 117BHP, 178Kg bike on knobblies does and it dosent!:blagblah:blagblah:blagblah

You have to applaud the marketing people, they know their target ‘weener’ market well because of the amount of dribbling this topic gets but the bottom line is Modes are for Morons

:D:D

Seriously, what does Enduro Pro actually do to the bike? (apart from turning it into a virtual 450 of course ...)

Suspension default to Hard, switchable to soft
ABS for rear brake pedal defaults to OFF
ASC is adjusted
Fuelling is changed to direct

I'm not sure why you guys are sceptical about modes. They let you change in an instant what would require you to get off the bike to adjust. It's not just a throttle control.

Sure you can have fun on a bike without. But it takes nothing away from the bike, and adds convenience.

I'm not about to spoil a good rant by recognising an element of truth in what you've said

Until it breaks and malfunctions:D

Who ya gonna call and how much?

Caution there's a LUDDITE lurking!!!
It's comical reading his posts ranting against MODES, he should really post on the Jokes thread.
I use the modes because I can understand them and get the advantage from them, some clearly can't understand and just rant against those that do. Sad really, but hey, it takes all sorts to make a world.

Methinks someone doth protest too much:augie
Biggest whiner in the weener section ? :comfort ;)

Cheers Paul..........................you'd have to be a GP rider to give it 10/10ths in Dynamic mode over some of the gnarliest Welsh Mountain/Scottish Highland/Peak District or Yorkshire Dales roads

Sadly we're not that good

i was out in ireland last week with a panni, multistrada, and a couple of blades, all spirited track day riders in the group, the new GS is amazing, they couldn't believe how planted that bike is in such company, the brakes, suspension, it leaves you wanting more, even in dyna mode (needs a trip to hilltop:D) because trust me that bike can handle it, its so easy to ride fast, very fast if thats your bag:D after having four GS'S it's a massive leap forward over the old one, the TE has outgrown the dinosaur brigade, enjoy your bikes

.... yes dear

.... early statistics are showing that owners worrying about which mode they are in/need to be in are more dangerous that people texting while driving.

Results are showing that owners are becoming so obsessed with modes that they are (1.) passing responsibility for their safety to a machine (2.) no longer placing observation as the #1 safety action they can take (3.) losing all sense of humour in defences of this 'emperors new cloths' feature (4.) in danger of joining the blame class ' sorry mate it was the mode that got it wrong not me'

Recommendations are that they have a man walking in front with a Red Flag mode

Fiddling about with spanners is soooo last year :thumb

Never mind - did you hang around at Papworth last night and have a good laugh at Trevor's C90?

Not for long, but we had a good chat.. what a nice chap he is :-)

Some how, I can see the synergy between a Honda C90 and, an 1150 GSA....:augie

No wonder we Yorkshire Folk get such a bad rap, always worrying about the coppers (that's a reference to cash for you Southern folks).
