I gone and broke it. (again)

After being just a tad overexuberant over the speed humps.. I've managed to crack the weld holding the silencer. (again)

Could do with a fixing thats not reliant on a weld.. some type of jubilee clip thing.

Any ideas? source. (part number would be tremendous)

It's an 1100 so no cat = no stubby.

That was a sub standard weld holding the bracket in place. It looks as though it was just sat on the top instead of fusing the steels together. Get it welded properly and it'll be fine.

lovely example of what my old welding tutor would call "pidgeon crap" there, get a proper welded repair and you ought to be good for a couple of hundred thousand miles

Mines done exactly the same thing. And having welded it once and had it go again mine now has a jubilee clip holding it

I'm ditching the std exhaust soon anyway, got a link pipe and a stainless Fuel can that I hope will adapt. Should put a bit less stress on it, and I'll do a proper weld job rather than the quick splat I gave it with everything in situ as I did last time.

Typical example of ineptitude when someone not correctly trained is let loose with a MIG set.

Aye.. its a pain. moreso as I'm missing out on a run over to Kirby lonsdale and all points north.

This is the second weld to 'give way' - the original weld from bmw consisted of little more than a centimeter strip of 'weld'. Ho Hum.

Thats why I immediately thought: "sod this for a game of soldiers, use a different fixing."

I'll put some feelers out for someone who can do a 'proper job' tomorrow.



I have no intention whatsoever of replacing this exhaust. (or bike)
