......between my '92 R100R and my 2013 R1200GSA and I'm sure none of you will be surprised to hear the R100R won 😍

I'm sure the GSA is undoubtedly the better bike but I have spent so much time and money making the 100 right and I just can't bear to part with it.

I have 50k miles on it right now and I want 100k out of it in the next 10 years. It's a no brainer really.

Ride safe.

Once you have several things, all good enough to do a job, it becomes a matter of choice which one you enjoy using most. There really isn't any logic to it. However, if you'd like an element of logic, I know which one you'll be able to sell for the most money in ten years time:) Enjoy:)

Why choose, just keep both.................as an accountant, you can 'adjust' the figs to tell any story you like

Spot on Dogbytes

They are completely different bikes, equally enjoyable but I was swayed by the long term viability of the airhead over the GSA.

(It will probably wait until the GS is sold before it goes wrong again )

Good plan JB but I really don't want more than one big capacity bike any more.

If I'm wrong I can always buy another GS but if I relinquish the 100 it's gone for good.

Anyway the decision is made.

Regards

Phil

Right decision, A 2013 GSA has far too many (unfortunately for BMW) unreliable electronics and ABS, you can fix an Airhead with a hammer, a chisel and a pair of pointed nosed pliers.

Completely with you on this. I recently sold my 09 1200 GSA and kept my 1983 R80 G/S in preference. In retrospect did I do the right thing.? erm........DAM RIGHT I DID! one of the few decisions I have made in my life where it has been so right.

Dont get me wrong, I loved my GSA as well, but once I had the G/S on board it never got used - to big, to heavy, to frickin expensive in terms of depreciation, to expensive to insure (Central London) etc etc whereas my modded G/S (Ohlins, 1000cc conversion HPN tank, 320mm front brake etc etc) is every bit as fast real world (up to motorway speeds anyway, but where I live now there are NO motorways), handles brilliantly, lighter and somehow much much more fun, hoons like a bastard I tel ya!

Happy happy happy! (and so will you be)

Thank you, THANK YOU, y'all - I'm sure I'm doing the right thing but I couldn't really expect any other answers on the Airhead Section could I ??? :-)

As some may recall I very nearly moved to a Moto Guzzi V7 in December and the reason I didn't was that the R100r was the far better bike of the two. I'm incredibly loyal to BMW (and Vines) and I wouldn't want to move to another marque at this stage in my riding career. I'm sure the 100 will require many dealer visits over the next 50k miles but I'm ready for that plus, of course, it only costs when I'm actually using it.

Mr Boxer is also right that keeping both is an option but only one I would only invoke if I cannot achieve the right price for the GSA.
