trying to be objective, I HATE myroute app with a passion, cannot get it to do what I want, I dont find it in anyway user friendly or intuitive, never had any interest in my life of sharing routes, or being part of any kind of route community the whole idea is just repulsive. I want to plan my routes upload them to my satnav and away we goi, it just does not work, ok I only have the free version to try but have not been actually upload everything, constantly wants to give me a route other than the one I want to take. Nothing about it at all is pleasant or easy to do. Obviously my opinion but for all those saying its the best thing since sliced bread there are other opinions, mine is that it is complete and utter garbage.

Oh XT works well, the mount is fine if not the best in the world.

Google maps chummie. Simple A to B or F via the C, D, E… & not a singe one of us need to know where you are headed for or what route you used to get wherever you do/did go. You also do not need the XT and it’s mediocre mount :thumb

Oh, MRA is a best thing since sliced bread, I love it, probably for completely different reasons to yours, and XT is simply great. 4 years of using it, and mount yet to give me any grief.

Remind us not to share any of our routes with you in the future :D

cant imagine any reason why you would, or for that matter why I would want it, why would I ever be interested in where you have been, even if going to the same place, and why would you care where I went or why, I really cant get my head around this whole sharing shit? I understand and get recommendations for particular hotels, or places to visit or even roads to ride down, but the, here you go, just copy everything I have done, you don't need to actually think for your self bit is the one I don't get

In my little world….

I like MapSource, BaseCamp and MyRoute. At the moment though, MyRoute is winning out over the other two, as I can use it on my iPad and phone. Mix in that BaseCamp has become very flakey on my Mac, so it’s only going one way. The OP is not thought unique in not liking MyRoute. As ever it’s horses for courses. Use whatever medium you like.

I have no more problem with people sharing routes, than I do with them sharing hotel details or, for all I care, holding hands when they go shopping.

PS Don’t ever look at this thread. You’ll burst a blood vessel :D :beerjug:

Sygic has an offer on until today possibly tomorrow 1 year for £12
Diwnload the free version and have a quick shufty

You can use Google maps for example. And go from A to B via what Google deem to be a best way to get there. It is in charge of your route, not you. You are just the to ride along with it. Yes you can enter various waypoints to go via, but it is fairly crude.

Shared routes. I never said that it is solely for the purpose of riding same route you did. Perhaps I have already, and you haven’t even shared it with me. The benefit of me sharing a route with somebody, is to give them an option. That being use it as is (lazy mode) or chop and change to suit your needs. Some might only want to ride a section of the route that has been highlighted as a must do, others might want it, for a different reasons.
There is a benefit in sharing, not least as it giving positive vibe and outlook on life.

MRA is great! As has Wapping mentioned, you can create routes on the fly in the middle of nowhere (providing you have mobile signal) on your phone or an iPad and export these to Garmin XT via Bluetooth and Garmin Drive app. It couldn’t be simpler.
Garmin Basecamp is very unstable lately in my opinion and I haven’t used it for a long time because of it.

So, dare we ask, what works for you? So was your post a ‘minor rant’ or a request of some sort?

Have you tried Kurviger? I like it a lot, even though I have bought into MRA

Tried out several route planners, myrouteapp far and away the easiest and best. I use a paid for version, likely to have more features…quelle suprise!
No need to share the routes, keep them private, I do..
The routes load easily to android phone to use on tomtom nav app OR to Garmin.

As usual, putting some time in to learning features pays dividends. For me, I never got Garmin basecamp to work. Googlemaps has many shortcomings but it is useful for planning journeys.

Having tried motogoloco, basecamp, gmaps, copilot, tomtom route planner, all with varying degrees of success, I have also compared ‘notes’ with other route planners and would respectfully suggest you are wrong and mra is the best so far.

If you know the route you want to take, why use a sat nav????

Probably will not do what he wants it it do, so another thing to hate with a passion, as it is worse than ants, yet none of us are any wiser what this “what I want it to do” is :nenau

I have to agree with you. I regretted forgetting to subscribe last July for a gold membership with navigation app thrown in for €69, before it become Navigator Next. I have however taken up their Christmas offer at €129.00 all in for a lifetime one off subscription fee.
