I purchased a very nice special edition Street Twin 900 last year, with a nagging feeling in the back of my mind that I really wanted a 1200. Sure enough, temptation got the better of me and I recently purchased a 2000 mile, gen 1 Speed Twin 1200. It’s pretty much stock apart from the tank grips, rad guard and I’ve modified the sticky out number plate hanger into a tail tidy (cheapest and best mod I’ve ever done at 0 cost!).

That looks lovely, one of the most interesting bikes in their range and effectively killed off the Thruxton.

Let us know how you get on with it (y).

1500 mile update. Bike is fan bloody tastic! I find myself having to make more of an effort to use my GSA, as it is such a joy to ride. The only real mod I’ve done to it is replaced the fork springs with TEC progressive and changed the fork oil. Having now covered approx 250 miles on them, they have relaxed nicely, and give a plusher, more stable ride. It tended to crash and wallow with the original set up, which made low speed trundling a bit of a jerky affair.
On a negative, I had my second puncture in 42 years of riding on Monday 😩
