I've just started my 13 plate 1200gs and when I turned the ignition on there was an intermittent buzzing like a quiet alarm coming from somewhere on the bike. It's never done it before and it stated ok but what was it??

Flappy valve on the exhaust left side down buy the foot peg had 5 of them to date under warranty

OK. But that flappy thing doesn't look like the one on my 2011 TC hexhead. Confused.com

I have 2011 hexhead and my mate has a 2010 hexhead. His bike has always buzzed as you describe, from new. Mine never has. We have taken his exhaust can off and watched the flap valve cycle correctly when the ignition is turned on. It isn't seized and works as it's supposed to. No explanation for the difference. Have a look and see if yours is seized, if so, disconnect and remove it and replace it with a link pipe.

Flappy valve is seized, throw it away its a useless piece of junk anyhow, serves no good purpose.

Is it a straight forward job to do, will I need a link pipe or can you just disconnect it? What benefit is gained from removing it,any info regarding performance would be helpful.
