Hi people,
I have bought a motorhome :rob for the missus and i to get away at the weekends (She will not go on the back of my GSA)!
Can anyone recommend a single bike trailer please.
Thanks in advance
Jake

Sorry, but these are not good for LONG distances repeatedly.

For a couple of hundred miles two or three times a year, no probs, but they are just not designed for heavy duty longer term use. (and yes, that's from direct experience)

If your useage is predicted to be less than that, go for it, they are good bits of kit for what they cost.

If you are going to do longer trips quite frequently, you need to be looking at more professional recovery equipment, or get a motolug and spend a weekend with some sheet steel, a bender, a welder and a big box of stainless nuts and bolts :) (I can tell you exactly what I did to mine and why if you need)

(That's what I did...I effectively rebuilt mine, upgraded it in every way and made it fit for purpose)

If you are looking for a trailer that breaks down into pieces (I got mine into a VW Golf) I can definitely recommend the same trailer as used by the AA and RAC:

Not cheap but very well made and with excellent customer support.

Buy and use with confidence.

What's the deal on insurance for the bike when it's being towed?

IMHO the prime mover ( motorhome ) has the insurance liability for the Bike on the trailer (and the trailer).

Might be worth a check of the motorhome policy and some written responses from the underwriters before you hook up...

Why? What does it matter? :nenau

IMHO the insurance for the tow vehicle normally only covers the trailer and its contents for third party damage.

The bike insurance would normally only pay out if the bike was being ridden at the time of any loss or claim, unless it specifically says that it's covered on a trailer.

So you could see a situation arise where you cause an accident (so are at fault) your insurance for the tow vehicle would pay out for the damage of the tow vehicle and any third party damage, but the trailer and it's contents would not be covered by your policy.

Just seen this on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MOTORCYCL...87?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item462613edcb
