i know this get asked a lot.....why is the site got so slow?

Haven't noticed the dreaded 'slow-load' for well over a year - it's been fine this morning, for instance - ISP problem maybe?

Mike:confused:

been seeing it here. not ten minutes, more like one or two minutes somtimes.

just this site.

and it has a nasty habit of crashing opera on refresh.

i tried IE,firefox & maxtron all the same on this site earlier about 11:00 wouldn't refresh page or new posts(took forever)

every other site i went to was fine and fast loading....so there must be something going on here.

Hmmm... it doesn't crash my browser Opera 8 beta 3 under Linux. And it's not been slow for me either. If you know of traceroute then perhaps it might route out a cause or point of failure.

Was slow early on but seems better now, had to keep pressing the "If you can't be fecked waiting for page to reload click here" text and the page loaded instantly. Otherwise seemed to take ages.

i'm using official v.7.54.

i looked in the opera forums & there are quite a lot of similar stories. no one seems to come up with a cure.

crashes happen very occasionally on other sites with me, but much more on this one, but i suppose i spend much more time here. who knows?

it happens on both my pcs too, so it's not hardware. they do have more or less identical software though.

Just been on ADVrider then came back to here and its gone slow again. Tried a few other "Forums" and they all seem O.K. speed wise. Its just this one with me. There is only 52 users on at the moment so its not that busy.

*edit*
The screen just displayed this...
ScreenShot031.gif

With the 'done' in the bottom corner meaning it wasn't going any further without help.

I’ve been told that slow down on Vbulletin can be caused by MYSQL’s lack of row level locking. It happens on the Visordown forums all the time. Not a lot you can do about it apparently:nenau

it was 4:06 in the morning 11 active users

and still it took to 4:08 for me to get back to the forum main page

i was using IE at the time but it was the same for any browser i've used.

if not everyone has this happening to them ...... then it must be my or the sites set up?

so how can i cure this problem?

:)

adaware

spybot

regXp

system mechanic

etc etc

however - its really fast here in Aus - so i guess its the 'Norn Iron' ISP's or the transmission system ??
