I leave on Monday, not back at work until the 8th July

Big trip!

Any particular reason you are going up the Swedish coast in preference to the Norwegian one? (Done Norway before?)

+1 for what Blackal says. Why go all that way and miss some of the finest roads in Europe on your way back through Norway? Go West young man!

Been lucky enough to ride a lot of Norway, the Atlantic road, Geirangerfjord, Trollstigen, and my favourate the Lofoten islands and Narvick and Tromso. I found Norway exceptionally expensive and even though i stayed in huts and camped i burned through 13,000K in 3-4 weeks weeks. Sweden and Finland were differently dramatic and a lot cheaper and I had some fantastic times on campsites with locals. Finland has a lot of forest so i may dip back west half way through,,,

Ah-hah! When we go down to Provence, we generally figure on £100 per day, from the moment we leave home (inc fuel, ferries, tolls, food, beer etc).

The Lofotens are absolutely stunning, and I'd like to return to Narvik (had some hols there when I was 8).

Have a great trip, and post some pics and impressions of Sweden for biking.

Did a similar trip 8 years ago except we landed in Stavanger, 3 days and 2 nights in Norway then rode to Stockholm so cut out a big part of your route. We got the boat to Tallin and from there on in the route was almost identical to yours. The big disappointment was we only had 10 days , you are a lucky man to have a month to do it. Enjoy :thumb2

You're just copying now!
I leave on Sat though so does that mean I'm copying you?... hmm not sure. :)

So I have arrived in Alta, long hard ride today only about 4 degrees and a strong north wind... camped out in local hotel... 3890km to date and only one problem with my 12 year old bike... the position light on the front failed. cost be 20K to replace :) Northcape on Thursday when it looks to be about 11 degrees and partly sunny. Local bikers very friendly and interested in the GSA.

Good man
Solo,ed the Nordkapp last year on my wee Transalp n camping kit ,got to be one of the best trips so far:thumb2
Hope the weather stays kind to you

What did you think of Estonia? I quite liked it, seemed quite quiet and empty.
Also big recommendation for Hotel Imperium in Chelmza, Poland if you are looking for a place to stay out there. Really cheap and quite swanky too! From there you can get to Zagan where The Great Escape happened and have a mooch around the little museum and in the hut that has been rebuilt.
