It's *so* good you said it twice :D

I get mine then too. And the big box of bling has just arrived from Nippy. It's currently hidden under the stairs away from Mrs Slowdowns beady eye.

And if the Voodoo dolls work I imagine it'll break down on Sunday morning ;)

There are so many moans and gripes on this and other sites about the problems encountered with a particular model, 1200gs in this case, not many posts to tell others what a pleasure they are to ride, and all the good bits, so let's start!

When I get on my bike I feel all my worries and stress leave me, and I have lots, disabled daughter, crap job, crap relationship etc. the feeling lasts the duration of the ride and a few hours after, and is the only thing that makes me feel like this, I stop in remote places and sit next to my bike eat a sandwich, drink my coke, take a photo then carry on, and I thank god I discovered motorcycles, and in particular BMW bikes, and let's face it as much as some don't like to admit it, we love BMW's.

How do you feel when you ride? Do you prefer lone riding or in a group?

I've said it before and I’ll say it again, When I come home from a ride no matter where I've been I say to myself and my wife I LOVE MY BIKE.

Yesterday I clocked up 500 miles, got home a 8 o'clock and couldn't wait to get back riding "Bertie" (that’s what my daughter calls my bike, Bertie the BMW).

So you can have your moans and you groans, and people can slag off the dealers and customer service, the warranty, the cost of servicing, cost of parts. But at the end of the day none of that matters to me because I enjoy; no damn it I LOVE MY BIKE WITH A PASSION.

I love the feeling of freedom it offers to me and the feeling of oneness with my bike. I know how my bike feels when I'm riding it and I know if there's something not quite right. If you gave me a brand new 1200GSA it would never feel the same as mine, It’s a personal thing, an emotional thing

All I can say is BERTIE I salute you, and promise to keep you in tip top condition, because you deserve the very best.

You are on my wavelength, wish everyone would just enjoy their bikes like you and I do. Where in Hampshire are you? I ride with a couple of mates, meet up Portsdown hill, don't go far just through the Meon valley, stop for a drink, look at the bikes, talk bikes, that sort of thing, a couple of times a year have a blast through France, not into riding in big groups. You are welcome to join us if you want, pillions welcome. :beerjug:

Believe me so do i :thumb2
i did'nt spent top dollar on the GS to sit and moan about it. i also love to ride it, i toured europe last year and i could'nt think of a better bike to do it on. But i have had breakdowns, not just read about them, i've been stranded 3times now and its left a seed of doubt in my mind about the relaibilty of the bike :nenau

A question for the guys that are saying they smile every ride, is it just because of the GS or is it the love of motorcycling in general :nenau

Hi Smirky

For me is the love of riding and my GS, knowing I can pick up sticks and ride just about anywhere I want to around the world safe in the knowledge that my bike is more then capable of doing it. Sure you are going to have problem along the way, I have had a few issue which have been resolved quickly but I have learnt from those issues and carry a few spares where ever I go. Obviously if I have a major problem I can not resolve myself I'm on the phone to those fine folks BMW Assist.

K12PFC, I'm just down the road from Liphook. Would love to meet up drop us a PM next time you arrange to meet up

As Forest Gumps mother allways said "LIFE IS LIKE A BOX OF CHOCALTES, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU GONNA GET"

Safe riding guys, and ENJOY
