Hello To All,

Am i missing something? I am in the market for a 1200 GS Adventure, and have been looking at the prices which have shocked me a bit being a jap owner all my life.

I am looking at a 06 / 07 bike, what sort of mileage should i be looking for or dosent it matter on one of these bikes?

Also what is the differenec between a standard GS and an Adventure, is it just cosmetic?

Thanks for any advise you can give.

Simon

OK, thanks for that at least i now know. I couldnt see the difference in the spec, and so couldnt work out why there was such a difference in the price.

Thanks for the advise.

I have looked at this stunner

I have already looked, and it is a bit out of my price bracket at the mo.

Will have to save a bit harder.

Thanks for the heads up though.

Simon

lets be honest, yes they are overpriced and darned expensive. Not helped by the badge :augie

But they are worth it, i had a Jap bike before, and so far the beemer is way ahead in terms of build everything feels solid, all the buttons are very positive, nothing feels cheap or like its going to break. Vario luggage is excellent as well.

Like the BMW cars, overpriced but cracking machines to to drive/ride.

Adventure has taller suspension and bigger tank and screen.

:comfort

Different colour frame and wheels, earlier models had a bigger alternator than the budget GS and spoked wheels were standard

Oooo I have one for sale as well, good deal as well:thumb2

I have an 2008 GS and test rode an 09 adventure model earlier this week. In my opinion the adventure mods completely ruin an awesome bike. It was like riding my bike but taking away the agility, handling and FUN.

All the best bits of the GS ruined by the addition of heavier wheels, more weight up top due to the larger fuel tank, and the longer travel suspension is probably wasted due to the extra sag caused by the increase in weight.

In short, no where near as much fun as the standard GS. There's no way I'd downgrade to the adventure model. But I guess it depends on what kind of rider you are. If you plod along everywhere and don't really push the handling or performance of the bike then I guess an adventure may suit if you prefer something a bit more 'bouncy'!

That is all really only applicable if you have both bikes in your garage and swap and change between them, once you are riding one or t'other the differences will soon be forgotten

Anyway get down the Gym & butch up a bit you may eventually be ready for the GSA:kissy2

Only ride to the chip shop and back, which is about the range of the smaller standard GS fuel tank. :D
Plus if you ride 500 plus mile days you'll enjoy the ADv suspension.

Which of course it it's intended use.

Ride 500mls per day, fill up the gsa twice, fill up the gs 3 times, i would not have a problem with that, considering that overall ,IMHO,the gs is a much nicer bike to ride.

You can always rely on a Mod to lob in the hand grenade! In reasonable mode a GS with tank mod should do 230+ miles but really, its just whatever floats your boat.
But can you really do 500 miles without stopping for a pee?
