You might know AM would do things differently, and better. It does look like it would be expensive though.
 
anyone know how the gears work? hoped he would show on the video but sadly didnt
 
He uses a Shimano Nexus hub gear unit, which I believe is an epicyclic gear. Normally the unit is built into the rear hub but Alan built it into the intermediate hub, above the crank.

I assume a shaft down through the swingarm to back hub?
 
No, I think he says it’s a chain, fully enclosed in an oil bath. A shaft would add even more cost to an expensive project, not to mention weight, and even on a downhill bike you would want to minimise power loss. Ok, this is GS forum but sometimes we just have to suck it up!

Looks a bit like some of the early Marins, only nicer!

I wonder if a major manufacturer would ever buy the design rights and mass produce?
