I use my Iphone 4 both on the bike and in the car.
Phone is mounted in both cases in an Arkon RWIPC GPS Speaker Bluetooth car holder cradle for iPhone 4 & iPod Touch 4G

Held by sucker to the screen.

Whilst in Switzerland last year on the bike, I was (simultaneously)
1 Using the phone as a video camera.
2 Playing music over the bluetooth to helmet.
3 Had the tomtom satnav application running to know where to go.
4 Somebody rang me, and I answered tapping button on helmet to answer.

The Arkon mount has a button on it to do the same thing in a car.
Hope this answers your query.
