I had a look at Bowker in Preston on Sunday and sat on a lowered GSA. I didn't know the GSA could be be ordered with low suspension. I was surprised at how easy it was for me to lift off the side stand, both feet almost (but not quite flat).
I'm only 5'-6" 29" leg. Food for thought, although I suspect the mass of the GSA would be too much on occassions.

Non lowered GSA, Low Seat, Daytona M Star boots 29" inside leg, height immaterial, use a fat foot to raise the angle slightly and consider where you touch down, remember when in europe road camber is on the left. Maybe you can fit a low seat to a lowered bike:nenau

As far as I'm aware a low seat will fit any bike (same year). At the moment I have nowhere to keep one anyway. The F650GS is in my front room and JUST goes through the door, with a struggle. No way could I mange to get a 1200 in there.

I have heard that Pidcocks BMW have sold almost as many factory lowered GSA's as they have full height models this year, the lowered bike seems to be quite popular, perhaps someone can confirm if this is correct?

I'm the same height and inseam as you and also found the lowered GSA easy to reach the ground.

However, if you ride two-up, check whether you can still reach the ground safely with the ESA set to two-up preload. My GS with low seat is easily manageable solo, but gets a bit precarious at times on the two-up setting as it jacks the bike up significantly.

Luckily, the solo + luggage preload setting also work OK two-up without luggage and makes the bike much more manageable :thumb2

I have full sized GSA and was given a factory lowered version last Friday when i took mine in for a service.. Felt very strange, both feet flat on the floor at stand still. I went to put the seat in the high position and realised it already was!!!. Thought i was riding a BMX on steroids...:D

SE Rider, Apart from flat-footing the road, did you notice any difference in ride quality or handling?

The seats have less padding don't they which is how they are lower, did it feel harder to sit on ?

was this a green one ? used ? with around 2000 miles on ?

The lowered bike is identical re seats etc to the standard model except the suspension. Very happy with my lowered bike and works just fine. Feels like a GS with the benefit of 50% more tank range.

No difference in ride quality or handling other than the footpegs touch down a lot quicker than a standard height version..

Think you may be wrong there, seat felt the same as the normal GSA. I believe they are factory lowered - i.e. a lowered chassis. Seat makes no difference to the standard one..:thumb2

Yes. Well it was green.
