I should fit a kickstart to my DRZ400E....

Looking on ebay of USA, there are kits available to fit a kickstart to a DRZ400E.
Although my DRZ has been fairly reliable, it did have a charge cable break a couple of months ago and that made the day's trail ride a little tricky as if it stalled i would have to bump the bleeder, which is not always easy.
I'll give Fowlers a shout tomorrow to price a kickstart kit up here in UK.
I have the bike in pieces at present as I have a new camchain to fit tomorrow and the valce clearnaces are getting done at the same time.
I've just took the righthand cranckcase cover off and generally, inside the engine is spotless, I'm very pleased!:D

I got a kit from ebay in the states. Beware, there's another 35 quid in import delivery costs so works out at 170 ish in total. The instructions are a bit poo, but it's fairly simple to work out. Beware of the decompressor lever too because the cable is short and if you have tall bars and/or risers you need to be careful with the cable route so that it doesn't cut out on full lock (damhik:blast).
Defo worth having though imho, don't trust eleccy start as a sole option.
 
Yes, in the cold, I always give my bike a kick just to turn the engine over. If it starts great, if not, I use the electric one.

I like to have the option.

Yes, the duty makes it an expensive job, so hopefully the UK dealers can make the kit for the same money as in USA. failing that, I might ask a mate to send me one as a christmas present!;)
 
Yes , I use an XR 400 in Cambodia , kick start only , no matter what I know it will start , just did a trip in some of the worst conditions ever and I could always garrentee It would start . in the middle of a swamped paddy field its nice to know you can get going . They do an electric starter kit in the USA but that is over £1000 , your kit seems cheap !!:thumby:

He already has electric start, but wants kickstart hence why it's a lot cheaper

I think the kickstart itself is about 90 quid, that's without the gears, stops and springs.

Get your mate to post it ;)
