Is it a standard shock? The cheaper Wilber's shocks are generally appalling on the fast response but ok on the slow. It's like being kicked up the arse every time you it a bump in the road. A decent shock will sort it out.

So if the Wilburs are no good, what do you recommend?
 
They look like nice units... but not particularly in keeping, don't you think?

Depends on where you are heading with it. To me the instruments are big boofy units that ruin the lines of the bike something like the Vapor gives you the critical info without sticking out like dogs............ :D

Look for corrosion on the shaft or even a slight bend in the shaft which may prevent smooth movement. It may also have been resprung for a big pie eater thus making it a bit harsh :eek:

I have been happy with Ohlins & White Power but you pay for them. An option may be to get the original shock rebuilt to your specs.
