Right I can't let this comment pass without some retort.
I am the main person behind the 'Raids' to the continent that have been mentioned and have been doing them for years now. We have NEVER attracted the unwarranted attention of police force in any country in Europe.
You obviously have no personal knowledge of the perception of motorbikes in countries like France, Spain, Italy and especially Corsica. Did you know for instance that Corsica has one of the highest percentages of motor vehicles per head of population anywhere in the world...no, didn't think so!
The Raids are very well planned, run to strict 'secondman' and 'last rider' codes.
We usually obey speed limits within city limits and rarely all ride together.
Your comments are a downright disgrace and do nothing to encourage a sense of fellowship or comaraderie between bikers.
I find your comments very unusual for a BMW rider, they certainly are not the BMWmainstream view. BMW riders are the riders that we most often meet in other 'packs', maybe then they just terrorise by 'stealth'.
Myself and many of the other riders on the raids are members of advanced rider groups, trail rider fellowships and police run rider assistance programes. Many of the guys are also in their middle age and hold down Senior Managemnet and Director positions, many such as myself for American companies.
Until you are fully conversant with all the facts maybe you should refrain from many flipant, stereotyping comments.
By the way we very often do rent tracks and take both SuperMotos, SuperBikes and Tourers on them. I personally did over 40 days on tracks last year alone. Next time your over here your welcome to come along as our guest to witness us on the 'rampage'. We'll even lend you a bike, an American one!

we did a similar trip to the Ardeche this year and had nothing but good will from everyone we saw. Other bikes, cafe and bar owners, the odd police car we saw. The French are well into their motards.

Each to their own. If you want to ride on your own or with a couple other bikes do. We went in a biggish group but we were only around for 3 days at a quiet time of the year. We only road as a whole group for one morning and i'm sure the local council won't be changing any laws because of us.

having done more than you will ever do i ie 30yrs biking a full RAC LICENCE driven f1 go karts 1 year, motocross for 4 yrs.

your comments are crap what or who gave you the right to slag off other riders or make comments about where they can go and ride, having been a member of the GOLDWING CLUB this is to me being ordered by a dictator? are you?.

I was one of the guys on the BAR trip and i have to say the french people seemed to enjoy having us there. The patrons of a McDonalds certainly did, all of them coming out to watch an impromptu stunt show myself and a few guys put on and showed their appreciation by clapping and encouraging us to do more

We were made welcome everywhere we went and the French really love bikes especially supermotos

Oh allow me to retort to your um, retort. I have no idea what the statistics of vehicle per user or your own personal resume has to do with anything? Besides there have been a few Bank Managers arrested for football hooliganism, So taking on the veneer of some bourgeois respectability is indicative of well, nothing really.

The fact that you either plan to or have rented a track doesn't negate a bad choice either. Robbing a bank and then giving the money away to charity isn't going to trump the original crime is it?

I'm guessing these thirty motards will not be ridden from Blighty to Corsica, right? Those BMW riders probably did. And that in itself is the point. In the end no matter how much you squirm in indignation, if you are making the effort to transport a specialised bike like a Motard to a specific Island, your intention is to use those roads as your defacto public track. If you're going to tell me that its convenient transportation around the island, then why not rent a scooter locally? You get the utility and the local economy gets the benefit of the Euro's you put into it. But I'm guessing that's not the real intention.

By the way, while you're generalising about what I do and don't know about Europe or what BMW riders and their views are, or what this site is about, why not spend some time here and get to know it before jumping to conclusions? You might be surprised. I'll be riding from London to Milan in September feel free to stop me for chat anywhere on route.

And just to make it clear that I have nothing against motards, here's mine (in a state of undress). I use it as God intended though. I race.
