I was just looking,......:) honest, Barb.....

Proff, interesting to note that reading that Mick Walker very excellent BMW restoration book, that he advises against twin front discs on R80g/s or STs.
'Owners of R80 g/s and ST models who are considering increased braking power via the fitment of an extra caliper and disc - despite the brackets on the side fork leg - are recommended not to bother. This is because the spoked wheel is not man enough to take the strain. If you go ahead, then first have the wheel rebuilt using sidecar strength spokes,............. Owners of /6 or /7 models fitted with twin discs and spoked wheels are advised to have the wheels rebuilt every 3 years or 30,000 miles, whichever comes up first..........'

My 100/7 has done well over 200,000 miles and is 34 years old so I'll take that with a pinch of salt :D

That should pacify Proff a bit ;) ............... will keep an eye on what those bikes end up making, 'cos that's where the Legobike is going to end up if no one wants it on here.

well a standard mono g/s puts out around 37 BHP at the back wheel so it isn't going to put much strain on anything :D

I fitted a 70BHP engine in my mono to see how it went, it wheelied on the throttle and tied the chassis in knots. Scared me half to death.

So, making as much sense and about as accurate as Mick Walker's Guzzi related books...

The front hubs are cast in two parts and aligned using sprung steel dowel pins I suppose the concern was that these pins could corrode allowing the whole hub to move loosing the spoke tension. They seem to have withstood the test of time.
