I am debating whether it’s time (excuse the pun) to maybe sell either all or some of my watches and possibly switch to an Apple iwatch..
Have any of you done this, do you regret the decision if doing so it there a better option as there seems to be various types of iwatch and they appear to change them regularly. I currently have a Breitling Navitimer, Super Ocean, Omega seamaster, Breitling aerospace and a few others.
Many thanks in advance…

I wear a Garmin watch which frankly has resulted in all my best watches being left in a drawer. Its horses for courses. When I was working I liked to wear a nice watch, now retired the occasions are reduced. I think the phrase sell “all” of my watches is too strong. Buy your smart watch and then see if you miss the others. The watch mkt is still quiet so I wouldnt rush to sell and expect top dollar.

I’ve still got my “proper” watches but since getting an Apple Watch I’ve worn nothing else. Started with a series 9 & got an Ultra 2 about a year ago. If you’re invested in Apple products the Ultra 2 is a no brainer. I get about 2-3 days wear from a charge.

I daily a Fenix 7 Solar Sapphire watch - the other watches all sit in the safe. They only come out for special occasions now.

I love my apple watch . Brilliant time keeping of course .

I’ve a couple of regular watches but also wear my Apple Watch (series 8) when at work. If allow me to see a snapshot of any messages, emails and incoming phone calls instead of pulling out my iPhone out the pocket every 5 minutes.

Apple watch also good for traveling by public transport in London for example. Where I set my credit card as express card and tap in an out of barriers with my watch rather than phone or a physical credit card. In my view it is safer than waving your iPhone about in a very busy underground station foyer, where an opportunist thief could snatch it out your hands before you even realise what happened. I can listen to music and control it using my watch too.

Used for navigating London or any other UK city, for same reasons as traveling on busy public transport.

I also use it for recording my steps through out the day and most recently cycling to and from work. I then can see all the health related data at the end of the day. I also sleep wearing my watch, this records my sleep patterns, etc.

It is however sometimes not the best dress watch to wear, especially if you are dressed in a suit.

If you are not used to having endless notifications buzzing on your wrist. This might soon get very old for you.

It really is a case of you either embrace the tech and learn to live with it, or keep your analogue collection and enjoy the variety.

Lastly, you will need to keep it charged on a daily basis. Depending how you use it, the battery might loose all of the charge before the end of the day.

Power to you now.

Only briefly had a smart watch "Samsung".
Didnt last long, prefer a "real" watch on my wrist.
BUT recently they have sat unworn and my 3 G-Shocks are worn. The square for the gym,the gwg 1000 and Rangeman rotated am/pm.
The Rangeman is the closest to a smart watch but only used for time date month.Form an orderly Q for all my "Real" watches!.

^^^^^What he said. I have it as a Health Monitor device, used it in the gym. Went for the Ultra 2. If you work, see if your company does something for you health well being. Received a Virgin smart watch from work, free. If not they cost around £30, basic tool. Battery last a week. I have Apple because all my other stuff is Apple, salary sacrifice paid for it. But Garmin is a serious piece of kit with 30 days battery power. The model I wanted though is massive on my wrist. I mean fucking huge. The speck and the mapping are way better than Apple. Over the top for my needs. But if I would go traveling is the one to have.
The Ultra 2 is now FDA approved. Also you could use it with an appropriate app as a lone worker alarm. Make a list (with features) why you want a smart watch. What features you want, especially if you work out is helpful. Heart monitor is super accurate for example.
However if you just want time a smart watch is not for you, £20 Casio is super.

This guy made a good case for either:

This is my smart gym watch.Tells me its 9am and time to leave the gym.
Lifting weights since 18 now 65,I haven't needed a smart watch to help in anyway with lifting weights tbh!.
Not interested in heart rate I know Im doing just fine.
When out the Wife counts her steps, were always together and Ill say I wonder how many steps ive done!!!.
When walking the dogs I suppose I could use my Rangeman to tell me how many steps ive done, but how does that help me,I was always going to be walking the dogs anyway,so aware of the health benefits without a "smart" watch.

A smart watches many functions definitely aren't for me.

Some do use and like them......I assume,as I dont see many in my gym not doing anything otherthan checking their smart watch to see if still alive.

I recently bought an Apple watch SE 1st edition on this site, just to test the water, as it were. I paid £85 for it and would sell it for the same. Not because I don't like it, but because I want to get a newer one. My thought was at that price, if I don't like it it's no great loss. i am currently debating the new SE or the newer, more expensive Series 10.

Thanks for all the responses gents, looks like I might have to be breaking out the credit card from its secure storage locker, ie the wife..🙈

Cheaper to buy Apple Watch from Costco plus two year warranty. If you have executive membership you also get 2% reward in a form of a voucher at the end of the year (before membership expires) use a credit card with a rewards scheme and get further benefits.

Horses for courses as others have said. I have an Omega and a Rolex and love them both. They are jewellery as much as timepieces in all honesty. Smart watches don’t interest me. Others will find that rather old fashioned thinking I’m sure.

I agonised over this for sometime, started with an earlier gen Apple Watch but got fed up with battery life, then switched to Garmin Fenix 8which I have recently updated to the 47mm v8 model with the metal braclet because I wanted something that looked 'nicer'. Like others, my 'proper' watches now sit unused apart from very rare occassions.
I make good use of the health tracking, steps etc, the only negative is that Apple won't let 3rd parties like Garmin have access to the API that allow text/message replies. You can see incoming, just not reply.

I love my Apple Watch. Incedently it’s not a I watch. Some company in Ireland owns that name. I gave all my watches away. JJH
