Jeez I'm a bit concerned about all these lightweight ktms, think my tenere is gonna be like a tank compared to these.

me on my GSA (I call it my camel :D )
Joe on his GS
and you on your Tenere tank

it'll be fine

Can we have Iceland destined bike photos !?

Not including panniers and camping gear

Jon, My 640 Adv is fairly standard spec with some minor mods. I just put new chain and sprocket set on it and new tyres - Pirelli MT21 front and Mitas E09 rear. I cut a big hole in the front sprocket cover to let stop crud gathering behind it. The sump bolt was stripped so I got that sorted and I had heated grips wired in along with my Zumo 660 sat nav (though I won't need that for Iceland). Bar risers also fitted plus a higher screen off a BMW F650 Dakar (I copied Timolgra!), carbon fibre frame guards, Seat Concepts seat with grippy top, Touratech headlamp guard, Hepco and Becker Pannier frames to strengthen the subframe and to carry soft panniers, folding mirrors from Zen Overland. I've got a 12v accessory socket wired in so I can charge my phone or camera battery while on the road from a tank bag (I bought a charger for my Canon EOS 5D MKIII with a USB lead that I can plug into the bike via a 12v USB adaptor - cheap from Amazon). I think that's about it!

I just got back from a photography trip to Iceland on Wednesday. It's such an awesome place in winter - but definitely not a good place for bikes! They don't grit the roads, just clear the bulk of the snow away, so you're driving on sheet ice just about everywhere and relying on the studs in the tyres to provide grip - which doesn't always happen when it's blowing a gale! If you're on Facebook you can see some of my pics there.

Is the battery charger a standard canon accessory ?

Thanks. And you're taking your mk3 not the Ds ?

If you don't mind my copying your angle and setting with the odd wanna-be question i may bring mine and the 16-35L2.8

There is another canon user on the trip too.

Yea, leaving the 5Ds at home, don't need 50Mp! I'm taking the 5D MKIII with 16-35mm f/4, 24-70mm f/4 and 70-300mm f/4-5.6 zooms, carbon tripod, polariser, ND grads and remote release, batteries and charger. The camera body and 24-70mm or 16-35mm will live in the tank bag with my filter and bits so it's easy to access when we stop. The telezoom and other zoom not on the camera will go in a Peli case strapped to the back of the bike for safe storage. Happy to answer questions and help out with photography on the trip Also hoping to get some great action pics of you chaps on your bikes in the landscap, kicking up dust and forging raging rivers :beerjug:

Pffffft I'm going to use my phone camera now so at least I'll have excuses :D

Wow. Wow wow. I know it's your professional and your skill is hard earnt, but personally I'd really appreciate any advice and guidance to get a shot that Is a fraction as good as your yours. Afraid I doubt I could provide you with any great action shots, I'm aspiring to stay upright as opposed to power slide !

Can I pester you in Wales to check which kit to take ..

Yea, course you can!
Oh, and don't play the innocent Timolgra! :duno

Getting worried that I've signed up with the wrong bunch of dude's for this trip!

Just spent this afternoon rebuilding the fuelpump on my 16 yr old F650GS (1200GS too precious for this trip) and had planned on taking a 7.1 Mega-something Olympus which I use to take underwater snaps :blast
