Well boys (and girls), this time tomorrow I'll be in Reykjavik hopefully getting all the bikes for the first trip released from customs so we're ready to ride Friday morning with minimal hassle.

I'll be doing the same with all the bikes for the 2nd trip.

If anyone's using the Gray Line bus from the airport, this will drop you very close to where the bikes are.
Using this attached map walk north from the Holtagarðar bus terminal take the first right and follow it down to the end going right into the yard, go to the big building in front and to the right. I may well meet you at the bus stop or at the bike pick up.
You may cut through by the Bonus supermarket but don't blame me if you get lost :D

The best news of all (for some!!) is the Sprengisandur (F26) is open as from today :beerjug:

You might experience a delay with customs as they will still be drunk after the football.

Insurance again!

Hi guys

I have just tried to renew my insurance with Bennets and they tell me that I would not be insured for Iceland
needless to say I have not renewed with them.
I am now with Carole Nash with AVIVA and they do cover Iceland and they where £25 cheaper so all is good here :P

Bennets did say to me that non of their insurance policies cover Iceland so if you are with Bennets you may want to check it for yourself

see you soon guys

Whereabouts did you route the end of the hose, how high, etc. It is by the clocks or higher ?

Thanks Jon

Used vacuum clearer hose (Vax, my wife is pissed and the house is now dirty) that fitted into the front of the air intake, there is not much space, it then goes down a bit and out then up beside the engine bar. It stops up and behind the light on the bar, at that point I put a u bend in the pipe so it faces down. All this was zip tied to the engine bar verticle and the outlet was taped with vacuum tape.

Thanks. I think I've got carried away with the cable ties. The Haynes manual said I had to undo and lift the fuel tank to access the filter (bikes a GSA). I duct taped the end of the hose to increase diameter, then inserted into air intake and taped it up. I've positioned the hose behind the clocks to avoid any contact with steering and put a u bend to keep it dry.

The push clip wasn't expected but once located made removal easy.

Snorkel fitted. Better start packing soon.

We came across some clueless Germans so sorted them out and got them on their way again after drowning a bike.
The woman wasn't very happy about her sodden sleeping bag :D
