Hi all, I've recently had my Throttle/Choke Cable replaced, throttle bottles balanced etc. I was told that the the cables would stretch, so was expecting the bike at some point in the near future to start running not 100%, then I'd get everything re-set to remove all the new unwanted slack and life would be good again.

It's been about 300 miles since the cables were fitted, and although the bike is still running ok, it has developed some interesting behavour. It's a R1100RS, so I'm guessing bascially engine wise very similar to a GS..

It starts with no problem, if I hold the choke all the way open. On letting go of the choke, the choke lever returns to about it's 1/2 way position, with the engine cold (starting it in the morning to go to work), the engine just cuts straight out. If I hold the choke at the all the way open position engine keeps running fine (all be it was a high idle speed). I'm guessing the cable has just stretched. Riding it is do-able, I just have to hold some extra revs with the throttle when riding.

The other more concerning one, is that when the engine is warm (Temp showing in the middle of the RID) the engine sometimes feels like it's about to cut out. So far it's cut out on my about 3 or 4 times, just start at the traffic lights/junctions etc.. It almost sounds like this , I've tried searching for the CCP mode thread, but can't seem to find any info on it.

For info, when warm it's idling about the 1k mark according to the rev counter.

I'm off to Ireland in about 6 weeks, so do I sort this out asap (but risk some more stretch-age of the cables before I go), or do I book it in for say a week before we leave, so I'll have got the most stretch out of the cables as poss

It does sound lke excess slack in your new cables to me, the fast idle lever only pulls the throttle cables by a tiny amount, once the new cables relax a bit you have probably got to take some of it up, I suggest you get the throttles synched properly and get the idle speed set to 1100/1200 rpm.
