Sounds like a bargain to me.

What if Giles just bought them because they were cheap .... but they didn't fit :nenau

I've got a Rally II jacket to sell, it'll be a bargain alright, but only to someone it'll fit ;)

:beerjug:

i like the bmw rallye 3 , ffs £900 , however if it were all things to all men I'd probably save money if it were what I want

i hope i dont look like this gaybear !

BMW Streetguard suit.

None of the faff of having to keep plugging in waterproof liners.

None of the outer jacket becoming waterlogged and super heavy.

Good ventilation and surprisingly cool in summer with lots of venting options. (Certainly for Europe anyways )

Easily removable armour.

Easily washable.

Very hardwearing.

As with all layering options - make sure the jacket has room for your fullest layering option and then the looseness in warmer weather will help with ventilation.

All of the benefits of BMW sizing and quality but with none of the uncoolness of looking like a LWR clone or loudly BMW branded acolyte. :hide

And just out of warranty the zip will pack in :nenau

Just because they were cheap doesn't mean to say they were a bargain ;)

You're on it today Pal. :thumb

You'll be givin us Yorkshire folk a reputation for being grumpy and tight. :nenau

You can always tell a yorkshireman ........
But he wont fookin listen ... :pullface

Not on mine. Are you talking about just yours or do you have evidence of an inherent fault ?

Yes there is evidence that the zips, that were made post 2007 ALWAYS (well some of them some of the time) became faulty. Often if you had used a pressure washer around the zip flap.

They were made in the same factory as 1200 final drives . . . so there :rob

I've had BMW suits for over twenty years, I've had their waterproof roll bags, their tank bags, rear bags and boots ... and it's always the feckin' zips that lets them down :nenau

I s'pose I'm therefor the common denominator :augie

But I am not alone ...

That's about right :thumb

Maybe not tight though ... that's why we're wearing the Rukka gear :thumb

SG2 or SG3?

Both

My lad (Martyn) bought the latest SG3 with the new fangled zip ... it failed :blast

:beerjug:

As an aside, I bought the new BMW system 6 helmet, was assured they don't drop to bits these days ....

Oh yes they do...

SG2 has always been fine, except the colour fade:blast

Rukka will be next choice, still got my 'winter' riding suit which is a Rukka Goretex and is still going strong after 20 years

I'm guessing that teh zipper on teh ROLL BAGS has yet to fail ? ;)

If BMW kit is that bad I wonder why you stick with them

Personally I prefer my Barbour suit but I was recommending based on the sort of thing I thought the OP was looking for.

Yes the zip in the BMW 'roll bag' (It's shaped like a roll) failed

The zips on my Streetguard failed

The zips on my Atlantis pants (two pairs) failed

The zips on the Atlantis pants even tearing holes in the seat of my XCountry

The zips on Sue's Atlantis pants tearing holes in her XCountry seat

"If BMW kit is that bad I wonder why you stick with them"

I haven't ... I've moved across to Rukka :P

The Wunderlich/Ortleib roll bag behaves impeccably cos it has no zips ;)

As for BMW's two year warranty on clothing ... down to discretion I'm afraid. Sue's gloves would not be replaced because they were too tatty to do so.
OK she had done a six month trip across Asia in them, but they were only just over 12 months old. No limitations at to mileage or countries of use in the BMW 2 year warranty :augie

Not to mention the shagged zip on the tent you sold me, so yep definately a common denominator in there somewhere. :D(I still haven't fixed it yet:blast)
