For anyone interested, a high quality unit with input for 3 devices such as GPS and Ipod etc, remote control (wired) and 12v bike power. This guy takes his amps seriously.

The AmpliRider is a high-fidelity, multiple input amplifier that connects directly to the 12 Volt system on a motorcycle. This amplifier enables motorcyclers to ride to the sound of great quailty audio. A unique feature to the AmpliRider is that the volume knob is remotely mounted, enabling it to be located in an easy to reach place on the bike, while the main amplifier body can be safely stored in another location.

I recently bought a CMoy based amplifier, from Michalis, for use on the bike and it is a significant improvement in sound quality through the Starcom helmet speakers. The other good part is the fact that the source, an iPod, need not be run at full volume so saving battery life. The battery powered amp can also be used off the bike.

Hello Ian,

It's good to hear from you! Thank you for being
interested in the AmpliRider. I am very honored that you would
consider this amp.

The current AmpliRider was being offered for the price of U.S.
$65 and this would already includes the cost to deliver the amp
to your address by fully insured, Airmail shipping. I always
mark the amps as a "Gift" and set the Customs value very low
($20) so that people will not have to pay any Duty or Customs
fees.

I should mention though, the current AmpliRider model assigned
an equal priority to all of the three inputs. This means that
everything you fed into the amp would be amplified by the same
amount, and then sent to your headphones or helmet speakers at
the same time. A lot of people have requested that I redesign
the amp such that if you were listening to the radio and a GPS
signal came through, the radio volume would be lowered or even
muted.

Also, some Garmin GPS systems, and Escort radar detectors have
been giving compatibility issues because they were built with
unbalanced audio outputs. To make them work with the balanced
inputs of the AmpliRider, an external isolation transformer
needs to be added.

Because of all the requests I have been getting, I have
decided to redesign the amp and add a priority system and an
internal isolation transformer on one of the inputs. I hope to
have the amp ready soon and I will update the AmpliRider page on
the website when it is ready.

Well, keep in touch and let me know what you think Ian. If you
would like I can send you an email when the new version of the
amp is complete. I would like to have it ready some time in
March. Let me know if you have any more questions too, and I
will be glad to help you. Thank you once again for being
interested in this amplifier.

Have a nice day Ian!
