When you kick the life out of it and it eventually opens, do not dismantle the entire top box from inside.
On the outside, under the handle there are 2 torx screws and 2 8mm nuts. Remove.
Take Off Handle.You will now have the problem in your hand. a 5mm diameter pin has fallen out of the handle and is now missing, so the toothed quadrant which is supposed to open the catches only moves 50% of what it should.
Hard to spot.
Get a 5mm x 30mm cap head Allen screw and self locking nut and replace the missing pin with this. That's it.
