If you own a WC GS, PLEASE read this before posting ANYTHING

On another forum I'm a member of (not bike related) the moderation is quite strict, it suprises me in fact how liberal this site is sometimes. For example, some of the derogatory comments that are made towards others would not be tollerated and members would just be banned simple as that.

I can see where the mods are coming from, when however many hundreds of bikes roll of the production line with the same/similar defects a forum filling up with posts of a similar vein is not in the best interests of the forum at large and a degree of editorial diligence needs to be applied to keep the forum fit for purpose.

So while some may object to an increased level of moderation...in relative terms this is nothing just good content management.

What a load of bollox, you don't have to carry it round, it isn't going to split your computer open with over posting. Each thread on Similar subjects takes a different turn, there will be piss takers and there will be miserable fuckers, but each opens up a different path. Oh and sometimes someone who knows what they are talking about provides the answer. You have to love it here.

I like this new rule! I do love my GS and when I subscribed to this forum it was in the thinking of enjoy reading good things about my bike and hear from other fellow GS riders, share thoughts etc...

so THANK YOU for this new rule.

The :D smilie in the OP should have been the giveaway that this is a light hearted thread. Of course I wouldn't start deleting posts/ threads about genuine problems. Where would all the non owners have their fun, after all?:comfort :D

There does seem to be several daft errors by dealers that then triggers "the bike is a pile of shite" response from some.

Seems pretty easy to me Nutty.......and you wouldn't run the risk of being accused of being a fascist mod.

This is a TECHNICAL section, meant for TECHNICAL issues.

Anything that's not TECHNICAL, boot into the B&B or the dealer section.

Simples :nenau

I keep seeing people say this is a technical section.
Unless I'm missing something, the technical section is elsewhere not here.

The bikes>bmw>1200gs watercooled.

Wipe the oil off and tighten the filler with the tool provided. Then re fit the looks yourself, it takes a few minutes. I fitted my own locks then I know it's been done right.

Quite right too and without the aid of BMW assist I have managed to tighten the oil filler even though one woulda have expected a BMW technician to have remembered this very basic thing after changing the oil
I have also managed to fit the lock barrels correctly with the exception of the one that the key will not go in to
I love the bike it's great as I have said gearbox fine suspension fine no corrosion but then it wouldn't have cos it's not seen rain yet oh and the screen is still attached and doesn't wobble
As fast as you need and handling to boot so to reiterate I love it
But at £150 for a service and many many of my hard earned English pounds I expect certain things is that so wrong ?

I was so impressed with the R1200GS WC, I bought a Multistrada

Long live the F800GS and the G650Xcountry :thumb

OK JB .... the 1150GS-A too :D

:beerjug:

If the latch is unlocked can you get to the last wafer at the back, depress it and then pop the barrel out so you can work the wafers?

No mate
The key will only go half way in to the lock ( that's the frame locking one) it seems like one of the leaves isn't giving and I don't want to force it too much

I have fixed the ones on which the barrels came out but this is beyond me as it is locked on and immovable

So, 24 hours later, I'm glad it's given everyone a good chuckle!:beerjug::D

Proper issues with the bike will obviously stay here, but dealer balls ups that have no relevance to any particular bike will be booted over to the pub for general ridicule and entertainment, in future.:thumb

Now, I need to ask Paul to fund a secretary.:P

:drool Ahhhhhh 'The secretary'. What a great film that was .... Now you've got my attention ..... :D

Excellent. It will be the equivalent of an 'open mike' comedy evening. Some good material, justifying bursts of applause but lots that just deserve loads of well directed vegetables.

Now, we all know the latest GS is the best bike in the world ever ever ever, BUT before you you post anything in this section, you need to think about what you're posting.

If you have a problem with the bike, and it's easily fixed by the dealer, DON'T post about it here, moaning like a girl; PHONE YOUR DEALER AND GET IT SORTED. They will sort it. There is no need to bitch and whine on here. You are not teenage schoolgirls.:comfort

I understand that some people need to post their every thought on the internet, but this IS NOT the place to do it.

So, I repeat again, if you have a trivial issue with your bike, DO NOT post it in this section - I WILL DELETE IT, as it's getting silly now.:D

If you make a statement of intent to do something, at least grow a pair and stand by that statement. Back paddling and saying "oh I was only joking" is just embarrassing.

I haven't back peddled at all, you just didn't "get" the OP.

Maybe I should have made it more obvious for you.
