touring in scotland this weekend past and my zumo 550 refused to turn on - tried the old power button and + button for 5 secs but no luck. Made it home with my trusty map, went online and discovered that unscrewing the battery allen bolt and thereby removing the battery will reset the zumo - it worked! Wish i'd known about it beforehand though so hopefully this will help someone else!

I had this happen to me. I took the battery out and put it back in again. Right as ninepence! Never had the issue again!

All Zumo's should be upgraded by installing the latest firmware (now 3.30) with the webupdater. Then update Mapsource as well.

Most reports of this kind of failior were with old firmware versions...

well worth knowing.:thumb
it would rather upset the apple cart if it happened on your annual trip.
tears would fall :tears:tears:tears
and you did'nt know how to reset [i did'nt'] altough mine is only a week old. lets hope it running up to date software. :nenau

Mine was/is bang up to date so it's obviously still an issue...

Have you removed the battery and replaced it?

yes - my first post on this thread stated that I did remove the battery and replace it - I was just posting for the benefit of others who might get stuck like me without net access to find a solution!

Zumo Power failure

Had same symptoms on my Zumo 550, battery trick did not work, returned unit to garmin and it was replaced within 10 days with a brand new unit complete with all mounting kit for car/bike.
Cant fault the service but how many of these units are failing ?.
