BUT..............want a good insight into what it is, where they go, how difficult it is, the fun people have. the crashes, what type of bikes they use

Then...............watch this edited 19 minute film, compiled from 60 hours and 2200 miles of riding in 2012

It shows some of the best lanes in the UK, in my home county of Devon and shot by the TRF members there

A very good little film:thumb2

Good little film, but I don't think they have read their own rule book :D

Travel at a safe speed.

Ride at a reasonable speed, taking regard of conditions and visibility. This
should not exceed the voluntary maximum of 25mph.

Ride quietly.

Green lanes are subject to the same laws as surfaced roads.

Watch that, and you probably won't ever try it :blast

It wasn't that difficult:P

Most of the lanes were medium difficulty, ridden on a trail/enduro bike

Some weren't suitable for over 600cc bikes, granted

I enjoyed the vid and thought for an amateur offering it was very well done

Thanks for posting:thumb2. Nice examples of a typical day out on the trails.

The Devon TRF weekend is a great one, well organised and some good lanes. Didn't watch it all; is Tally Hoe or Dead Man's Lane (thinkthat's what they called it!) on the video. There was another one I went up (well sort of) but I can't remember it's name; the lads from Devon said it was one of the toughest in the area and I wouldn't disagree. It had a couple of big steps about a quarter of the way up. I'll watch it all when I get home from work.

Not knocking the quality of it, or that it shows a typical day out for EXPERIENCED trail riders.

Mud and ruts though....two things I personally hate, and that most newbs to trail riding are scared of- I've got video of some of us riding desert and rocks, mountain climbs and stuff that I would never have put up on the Moto-Morocco site, as it would have scared newbs shitless, even if they would have been doing very similar things themselves at the end of a fortnight out there with us....slippery mud and ruts in the UK does the same to me, even though I have done a fair bit of it in the past

I think if I were wondering about doing a bit of trail riding for the first time in the UK, this film, good though it is, would put me off, that's all :thumb2

Really enjoyed that.
Just goes to show you what having a laff is all about.
:friday:friday:friday:friday

Looked bloody great to me. Just wish I had the wonga to buy a bike suitable for trail riding.

Erm......I know :blast

Put it this way, I'd have no qualms taking my wife on any of the trails in that video...she's seen it and agrees it would be great fun...

.....despite the bruises:D

Oh Bill, it's a light hearted film showing what fun it can be............you seem to be in the minority, but never mind:D

I would say some were experienced on film, but some clearly weren't but had a great time

Main difference, those lanes are easy on a 250-400cc pukka bike and as Tim says, Mud/Rocks/Rivers/Ruts are what UK trails are all about - but after a while they're pretty straightforward

That's not 'green laning' never in a month of Sunday's

More like 'Devon Dakar' to me me :aidan

Good one JB .... reminds me now why I never took it up :D
