Hi folks, having an issue with my ignition Barrel in that the key won't turn at all to switch the bike on.
It became sticky a few weeks ago and managed to resolve it using graphite powder but after a few days of rain it became sticky again but manageable.
Got her out today and noticed that the steering lock wouldnt engage so added a little graphite into the barrel and now the key won't move in either direction. I suspect that there may still be some moisture within. Any ideas on how to flush it out? Had considered compresses Air but I'm concerned that it could damage the wafers.
I might add that I've tried the spare key, both work in all locks except the ignition.

Cheers, Rob.

Liberally apply lock cleaner and then lock oil. Dont use anything other than lock oil in locks. You want an oil that is thin and doesnt dry. Pouring powder of any kind in a lock is asking for trouble. Graphite will work for a while but sooner or later it will gunk up.

Advice taken and problem resolved, it appears that the graphite had compacted and jammed the lock cylinders.
Used lock cleaner liberally to flush the graphite out of the barrel.
A quick application of lock oil and its now working flawlessly.

Cheers, Rob.
